ive been waiting for someone to do one! i cant wait to see your progress.
The thing is that I made CONCEPTS of the shooters, so they give me a basic idea of what I have to make and what size it should be. But by all means, post any other pics of the suit (especially the shooters) you find that I may find useful.Wouldn't it be better to wait for more reference pictures to become available? ...at least for the web shooters.
Yes, this is my first go at a costume. As far as production notes, I'm still in the process of getting the majority of them done, but for now I'm going with whatever I can use from stencilwork. And as far as uploading, I just planned to scan the emblem into my computer, size it and upload it (I'm not really the best with computers). This way people can print it off for their costumes, but you have to trace it on. And I'm already looking into special fabrics and materials for the rubber-like texture. By the way, do you know where I could find some fabric for the blue areas (with the brick pattern)? Thanks! Let me know if you have anymore questions. So what are your production notes?
-Plans for construction, pattern development, texture replication, materials research...
Is this your first go at a costume?
Regarding your spider emblem, what are some details with that? You mentioned printing. Do you mean a CAD file for 3d printing/ CNC? Or is it a vector file for scale-able printing? Or, a photoshop kind of thing...
Just trying to gauge your thought-process, as those are all points you'll eventually want to touch on if you're going for a high-accuracy build.
Might want to pick up some of the Asics Gel Dirt-Dog shoes while they are still available...
Good luck with your build!
Hey, I just found a website that provides custom fabrics, which is most likely where I will get the blue spandex with the brick pattern from. Here's the URL: Dpi - Welcome to DPI. Hope this helps some of you withyour builds.
Yes, they do spandex. I dont know why its not listed though. The price for spandex is $32/yard, and yes, you have to send a file to them with your order of the design or pattern. And I have airbrushes with some darker-blue material, which i will use for the muscle shading. But I'm really just looking for the fabric with the design on it, even w/out the shading.Did you actually get a quote from them already?
Their website doesn't list spandex (lycra) as an in-stock option, so you would probably have to supply the base material for them.
Also, were you considering doing a dye sub/ screen printed combination? Or just the bricks?(since the SA suit appears to have both dye sub muscle shading as well as the silkscreened brick pattern).
Make sure you also determine what their "minimum order" may be... if they do custom fabric runs by the yard
Also, make sure you determine whether they require you to submit the files to be printed. IE, a repeatable/tiled pattern... or if they can provide that service in house.
