I've built two model planes from kits at this point, but I've decided to take things a step further with my first scratch build, the Glitch device from Reboot. I intend this to be a full-scale model that I will incorporate a watch into the center face, and use it as an everyday watch that all kids of the 90s will point and smile at.
The silver object in the background is the gauntlet that Glitch sits on, which is attached to the character's arm, which I'm not going to make. His wrist is at the bottom right corner.
This is my first scratch build, so I don't really know what materials I could use to make this thing to be durable enough to wear as an everyday watch. I could do it all out of wood, but I wouldn't want the paint to come off the wood.
I also don't know what I'd use for the battery on the left of the face-could I use an actual battery with the label removed? What other materials could I use to replicate that chrome look? What would the orange part be made of?
I guess I'm just really looking for some help from more experienced model makers as to what materials would be good to use that would provide an accurate representation and still be durable enough to be used as part of a watch.
The only other clear picture I can find is this picture of it broken, but it has a different angle to provide scale for the height(Though I probably will make the base a little bit thinner than it is).
After building this, I'll be making the upgraded version as well:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
