New RPF Sites Issues - CLOSED (please search for or start a thread for new issues)

I have taken down the notice regarding taking the site offline for the next 24 hours. We may have to take it down tomorrow for short periods of time, but it looks like most of the changes we need to make can be made while the site is live.

There isn't one.

Hello fellow RPF-Members!
I'd like to point out a few issues I have with the new site (and my apologies, if these are already mentioned):
1.) Missing Pagenumbers in Threadoverview - It was easier to navigate on multipage threads. Now I have to open the thread first, an then goto the page I really want to go. I know that there's the option to read the new posts, but I like it more to go through the thread itself and open what looks interesting to me.
2.) Marking read/unread threads. Before there were three options, each looked different:
a.) Threads with new posts after last visit: bold darker blue;
b.) Threads with new posts after last visit but read before: bold lighter blue;
c.) Threads with no new posts after last visit: not bold.
Now there are only 2 looks, because there's no difference between a. and b. now - please restore Option b.

Edit: And I miss the "your last visits was..."

Otherwise, a big thank you to the admins of this site. :)

Art it looks pretty readable on my PC too now. Before it was most readable for me having white text on a black background which is how I had it. I'm boring like that. I guess this look is more consistent across platforms though.

...
I am a little confused on this because at the moment:

If you click on the icon to the left of the thread title, you are taken to the first new post of the thread (which will be different for each member).

Is this simply a matter of education or is there something missing?

Art, I think I get it now. The "icon to the left" that takes you to the last unread post only shows up when you manually navigate to the forums/sub-forums. There just isn't one there to click on if you use the "New posts" function, which I (and I guess a lot of others) do.

On a related note, while the posts are easier to read now, the sections of text that include "New posts" "Mark Forum read" etc are still hard to read (grey on dark, and small)

Under "Notifications" it shows I have 1 unread PM, but I have opened all my PMs and don't have any that are unread.

Nice.

All of my "issues", some of which I never even mentioned, have been resolved over night.

Alignment: Fixed
View Last Read: Reimplemented
Poor Text-BG Contrast: Improved
Page Load Time: Improved
Emoticons: Don't look out of place any more

Definitely feeling better now. Keep up the good work fellas.

Art, I have seen several comments on the "grey background text issue" I am liking the new site upgrades and changes, but I really would love to have the solid black background with light text back. I would think that would be an adjustment that could be made? The new text field is just really hard on the eyes.

Otherwise, thank you for the hard work!

Navigating to the first unread post via that tiny icon (or even the last post by clicking on the right) is very difficult while using an iPad or iPhone due to the very small area needed to be clicked. I haven't looked since the font size changed, but the text was very difficult to read due to the size as well.

Ohh! Here's a thing, Art. And I know you don't want to hear it, but over the course of the last couple days I have learned to utterly despise the word "fandom." It just feels, to me at least, to be excessively used throughout the site now. It seems that you have an agenda of me performing all of my activities "to my fandom."

I realize it's the new tag line and all, but would it hurt to roll it back a bit? I mean, fandom is a made up, silly sounding word designed to replace the less than positive sounding word, fanaticism. Should we really "Craft/Follow/Share Our Fanaticism?" :lol

I love the double post prevention feature. :thumbsup

Not a bug or problem--more a request: can we get a section in the "Gallery" specifically for people to upload fan films and video clips? Like the "Transmissions" section at the Lair?

I just installed Nosquint in Firefox, and look what I can do with it :D

You can timewarp the site theme back to 1996? :sick :lol

It would be nice if the quote text colour was darker to match the regular message colour, because there's not much contrast there, and a hint of colour wouldn't hurt either, but aside from that, no complaints from me. It looks nice.
