OK this now looks great on my iPad using Chrome but the quoted text is way more noticeable than the post text when using Safari. ie the main post text does not have enough contrast against the dark background. I will check from my PC when I get back to it as it is my main access to the RPF.

that defeats the purpose of the ads on the rpf..

I am more than well aware about why advertisements exist. I have been in web design and web hosting for a lot longer than I'm happy about. But that's not really the conversation. The notice tells me to report problems so I'm reporting problems. Previously, ad blocking here was trivial. It's not now; that's a problem I am having.

Also FYI, most ad blockers will block Youtube and other video ads too.

Now it looks OK in Safari on my iPad too. Odd I might have just caught it at a strange moment.

ads help the site run with the revenue gained by the people using the ads.....

people need to realize that ads help the site...and skipping past it is not a big problem....hell, i rather skip over the ads here than deal with a 30 second youtube ad just to see a 10 second video!

I use adblockers on my PC all the time but having said that, I think the cost of Premium Membership is more than worth it given what members get from the site. I try to give back in my limited way and don't always know if I have been of assistance but membership is a way that I know I can help.

Can you show me a screen capture of one of the regular boards (props, costumes, etc.) looks like without adblocking on? I am genuinely curious what an average, premium user sees with adblocking turned off.

Site looks good, but the ads at the side are too intrusive, spoils the look of the site. The banners at the top of the site are enough and don't take away from the look of the site, but the "ad choices" and adverts at the side of the page ruin it, it looks like more time has been spent filling the pages with adverts than anything else. The adverts at the sides need to go.

......... premium members will be able to minimize the sidebar, but not get rid of it entirely. As I don't have a premium membership I can't confirm for myself ........

In the first few hours of the site coming on-line, premium members had the ability to hide the sidebar. However, it had to be done every time one changed forum / page etc.

It has since been totally removed for PM's. I see zero ads, and zero empty spaces.

If you are using an ad blocker, you will of course see empty spaces where the ads you are blocking are supposed to be.

Trying to get rid of those empty spaces would be, well, getting the same upgrade PM's have paid for and kinda defeats the purpose.

Can you upload a screen capture when viewing one of the regular boards (props, costumes, etc.)?

And that is what keeps bugging me. Before the update the PM was more about getting more support and special functions like own areas. Now it feels like (and it's just what it feels like. my own experience and nothing validated) the everyone else is getting less than before and that you'll now should pay for rights you didn't have to pay before. I think a PM should be giving more to those who pay and not taking something away from those who doesn't.

Thanks. And what about the top of the page, everything that's above the notice?

The 'We are testing' notice will of course be gone eventually.

The space to the right of the rolling banner ... well, still being decided what to put in it.

Yeah of course, that notice isn't forever.

That's interesting that the right advertisement box is empty but not missing. And that the "featured" area isn't hidden or hideable at all.

The individual post Title is missing in the thread proper. Is this a bug or a feature?

This screen grab shows the title entry area in the advanced reply screen, but the post title is not shown in the thread:

Excellent! As I mentioned in a few other places, we will use the post text and the changes we made there as a starting point for altering other text areas until we are satisfied that we have made the site easy to read for the vast majority. I really appreciate the feedback and that everyone is willing to work with us to get this right. We won't be able to please everyone and I think we still have a considerable amount of work ahead of us, but with the strong base we have now, and your suggestions and assistance, I am sure we can get somewhere good.

Something to note is that for the first time, we are all on the same page, seeing relatively the same thing. We are more inline than we have ever been and it seems, for the most part, we have found middle ground. Considering how widely varying the previous themes were, I think that is a pretty amazing thing!

As you point out these are feelings and not validated, it's unfortunate you feel that way, but our feelings are not based on logic. Personally I think (based on logic ;) ) that Art explained the ad placement issue very well here and in the other thread. The ads bother me less than billboards I drive past on the hwy, and those are rarely Star Wars related :lol. I decided to get myself a PM for my B-day next month, because I want to support the site, and my limited experience in the hobby keeps me from contributing as much as I'd like to in helpfulness. My decision had nothing to do with ads (or the lack thereof). It had everything to do with how much information and enjoyment this site and it's members have brought to me and my family. (y)D

This was done on purpose to minimize the cutter in the posts. Previously, the thread title was at the top of each post in a thread. Now the thread title is listed once, above the posts.

Thanks for the clarification. I liked the feature, but I understand your reasoning. I think I was the only person who actually used it. :)
