new robocop suit opinion *spoiler*

So OCP got the suit via a Deagostini peacemeal, like, you get an undersuit with your first issue, then collect them all kids?

:lol

One picture of the character in what is not even believed to be the final suit is not enough to go on.

Agree with you here...

If that suit were coloured just a little bit more like the original 80s suit I think there'd be far more people singing this movie's praise. I think the black (even if it were the only suit) looks pretty good.
...but not here. Nobody would be terribly critical if it was from something completely new, but if it were the only suit for the new Robocop, just jeeze no.
The rumour from the production company guy sounds completely plausible and will probably satisfy most people if the final armour looks cool and funky, but it had better be powered too...otherwise what? He's going from being an unexpectedly sleek, fast, high-tech cyborg backwards into being the lumbering RC we know and love? :lol Point being all that silver-blue stuff wasn't just armour, it was him - motors and actuators and all.

I think upgrading the suit near the middle or end of the film COULD be a great idea. Just like when Robocop was dropped off in pieces, only this time he returns with significant upgrades.

Makes more sense sequel wise as well! If we want Robocop Reboot 2 we see him evolve. And Robocop 3 he will get his jetpack....:lol

Dear God, no! No Robocop3 references, please.

Though I do wonder what sort of upgrade it will be. Just for asthetics? What would be awesome is if he's so badly damaged at one point he has no choice but to adopt the prototype, clunky mark 1 armor, like the arc reactor bit in IronMan.

Im not a fan of this suit. Its a cool looking suit but think theyve not made the right choice here.

Suppose if they would have made it too similar to the original, we would be accusing them of making little effort.

Though I have heard that this costume is an "undersuit" and that
the traditional silver armor actually gets placed over this at the end of the movie and replicates the 80's Robocop suit. In fact, all the other costumes use this as an undersuit.

I would definitely take that with a grain of salt considering that from the script review posted online
He is placed in a suit reminiscent to the original towards the beginning of the movie and a focus panel laughs at it and makes fun of it.

If true I will be very mad at this movie. :angry

This may be what he meant except he got the wrong end of the movie. I hope this is not the case. What a way to **** off the fans.

Hollywood doesn't give two craps about the fans other than the teenagers and 20 somethings who have the IQ of potato chips.

:lol You won't be alone.

It's possibly even a little more plausible than the 'evolution' idea. :facepalm

Well hopefully the "one hand" thing is solved, it looks like this if from the same set of photos as shown before only this time he is holding a cigarette in the right hand. Hopefully the glove was removed just for this while not filming.

Fingers crossed! One thing really missing from this design is his face doesn't look grafted on to anything. In the original they made an effort to make it look more artificial, this is just a helmet.

Yeah right, there is absolutely nothing about this design that says "half man, half machine" the bottom line is it looks like a guy in a suit, which is everything Robocop is not.

Wasn't there a rumor that

the one original hand becomes a small but important plot point and that it's damaged towards the end in some way to some emotional effect? I think it said that due to nerve damage his face no longer has any sensation and so the hand (kept to enhance his shooting skills) is his only connection to the world.

Something along those lines.

seems reasonable enough. it would be a good plot point.

I would have no problem with them throwing in the hand. A nod to the original, saving the hand instead, and a way for more emotional scenes to take place. He can use his hand as a way to indicate he's really pissed. He removes his glove to ***** slap the bad guys.

"You're move, bee-atch!" *slap*

It's funny how the 80's suit, as bulky as it is, feels less like a guy in a suit than the new one.

As far as the idea of us seeing the original suit at the end, NO, JUST NO!
I'm really tired of Hollywood counting their sequels before they hatch!
How about they concentrate on making this one not suck first.

Wasn't there a rumor that the Green Lantern sequel was being written before the first movie was even released? Hey Hollywood, how'd that work out for you?

Honestly, the hand idea is just silly. Why keeping such a flaw in the design ? That's why Norton said in the first movie : " Loose the arm ". In my opinion, they weren't having the hand in the frame, so they just didn't bother to put on the glove, that's all.

Well, having his mouth exposed is just as much of a design flaw as having his hand exposed so there's no reason why it would not work.

I can see it being used to great effect if done right. It's kept for a practical reason (his sharp shooting skills) but also adds to how isolated the character is. Using it as a connection to his human life and threatening that connection could be really powerful story-telling. I hope this rumor ends up being true.
