New NECA Freddy Vs Jason Mask at TRU

Yea these are nice to play with,I think of it as a $20 model kit...half the fun is adding correct straps, paint exc..

These are nice right out of the box though...I wouldn't go as far as to call them "muesum quality"..:rolleyes..but def worth twenty bucks...or even 30 if you can get one on ebay.

saw a bunch of these yesterday, cool, but i have the one from last year already...

If you compare them side by side they are VERY different from size to design to paint scheme. I was worried that if I displayed them side by side that the average non-prop guest at my house would ask why I have two of the same masks displayed but they are different enough to display together.

Do we know when the 2010 Freddy glove replica is being released? That would be fun to wear to the midnight premier...

I think that they did a really good job for a $20 replica. I've seen high end licensed props that haven't been as close to their originals.

The way I look at it is that I've paid more than that a few times for blank masks, so getting one already painted is a great deal. I'm probably going to enhance the weathering a bit, just to make it my own. But it's a fun base, and I want to encourage companies to do things like this by buying them when they do.

TRU website now has this item listed. No picture yet, but it's $20. Just a heads up for anyone who can't find them at thier local TRU location. Perhaps they wanted to hit bigger markets first before releasing it to all TRU locations?

you could do the shadowbox with a freddy glove. That would be cool since this is a VS. mask. I have a mask on a Jason bust, and one hanging off a shadowbox. In the shadowbox is a freddy sweater, with a bloody machette and a Freddy glove.. The mask looks great just hanging on the side of it.

A nail:confused

Actually I don't even get that complicated - I just hang it on the wall with a push pin through the strip and presto-magic - it is on display:cool

Wow, why didn't I think of that. :rolleyes

But yeah, my friend wants a more classier approach (gonna try the Shadow box method Moviefreak mentioned) rather than the ghetto way.:lol

Plate holders...those things at bed bath and beyond that display a collector plate, works well.

Picked up 2 hockey masks at tru over the weekend

Got the last one today that my semi-local TRU had. I tried to get one of the ones last year, but when I got there they told me that they had been recalled because of the gas pedal stic...

errr..I mean...the materials used to make it were/could be toxic. I was shown that they had a case of them in the back room that they couldn't sell. Maybe somebody was just trying to keep them for themselves, but a whole case?

So, anyway, overall I'm pretty pleased with it for $20. Think the only thing I'll really do to it is rough up the red stripes. They appear to just be a waterslide transfer or heat stamp decal or something. Fingernail seems to be doing the trick. I'll touch up a few spots and probably work on the shadowbox display someone mentioned earlier. I've had one of the Rubies Freddy Deluxe gloves for years. The aging/blood on the glove is horrible (as well as the glove itself)and I would like to replace the blades at some point but I can live w/it for now.

In summary...TRU/NECA Jason Mask...well worth the $20 investment.:thumbsup

Do you know how easy it would be to remove/replace the glove on the deluxe? I can't stand the terrible weathering they did for it! I can live with the blades - look SA to me, just needs some weathering. I want to re-create the shadowbox display look NECA previously offered with thier Freddy VS Jason display, but instead of a typical shadowbox, I want a 'Planet Hollywood' style wall-mount with clear sides, top and bottom with maybe a red background.

I thought about the glove replacement, but I don't know what kind of rivets/fasteners to use. Just not sure what they're called to get replacements.

I thought about really dingy-ing up the glove to see if it looks any better. I can't complain too much though. When I bought it the Costume shop was having a sale and I think I only wound up paying like $25 for the glove.

I used sandpaper on my glove to remove most of the weathering. At some point I'll add some of my own back in to hide it more.

I've been planning to grind the tips of the blades to points so that they don't look goofy. I'm guessing I'll see that they are nickel plated copper, but I'm sure I can hide that with weathering.

One of these days I'll make my own Freddy glove. That's been on the to-do list since Nightmare 3 came out ;)

So true.I thought this when the remake hocks came out at Toys R Us...the funniest thing about that one was the box read "NOT A TOY" right on the front!

This new one just says "AGES 17+"

FYI those that get one.The straps are in the wrong place. For some reason they added lower holes for the strap in the wrong spot. The correct holes are there. This is cast from a screen used mask....just have to put on the right straps and fill the extra holes.

does that mean that is an extra hole that needs filling?

I recommend Aves Apoxie sculpt. Some of the best stuff I have ever used and it is non toxic!

I've just gotten my first batch of this stuff and I'm totally in love with it. I'm seriously thinking about ordering the 100 pound bucket next time!!!
