New MR Fett helmet pics

I don't think a cost has been worked up since they have the challenge of getting the paintjob reproduced and quotes on that. I have no idea but I think this may be the plan right now.

This helmet is awesome and a definite purchase for me. I am curious if the current helmet dilemas that are facing MR will delay the release of this. On a positive note, they should have most of their QC issues taken care of by it's release.

Could someone please post a side-by-side comparison of Lee's paint up with the MR Toy Fair mockup? I haven't seen it personally...

Thanks,

- Gabe

Here you go Gabe.

you know moff eatons paint job looks really good, its just its not the right colors...

the lighter green is WAY to light and the inner cheek dark green is... well... it looks black.

the only thing i see that doesnt feel right about Lees new one, is the abscense of yellow on the back which i thought was correct.

but im not a fett expert, maybe this yellowish color wasnt on the helmet it was taken from... but wasnt the proto yellow that was seen on the proto fetts left gauntlet and shoulders still on the rear of the screen used ESB in the weathering?

i dont know if this post is getting across what im thinking... but yeah.

fett pros please step in.

If everyone is cool with this please by all means ask questions but please don't get rough on Jason he did a good attempt on a helmet he saw in the archives. I just want to keep some positive energy about all of this he is a very accomplished artist and has done great work for MR.

OldKen,

Both the helmet MR scanned, the preproduction 3, and the ESB helmet use the same accent color on the back.

The color you are referencing is an odd color that changes hue dramatically depending on the surrounding lighting and how it is photographed. But it is not the same color as the preproduction yellow gauntlets.

Here is a photo of the MR back compared to the Empire back:

*Note, the Empire photo was taken with a flash.

Just too clarify a bit further... The yellow is a color that people have been getting wrong for a very long time. There are still those at TDH who believe that the yellow is there, but I think as TD said, it is just a tough color to photograph but if you study enough photos, you will see it is not the intense yellow most people seem to think.

That's the best looking Fett hat I've seen since I was floored by the Motorfish masterpiece (whatever happened to him?)...

I think Lee would tell you that his original inspiration was Motorfish's awesome work...

Lee just took it to a whole new level of accuracy.

That paintjob is absolutely incredible. If MR can come anywhere close to that, this piece will be a HUGE hit.

FWIW, the later runs of the clone helmets improved considerably. My Special Ops helmet paintjob isn't that great, but the paintjob on my Star Corps helmet is literally perfect. Most of the Star Corps helmets turned out very nicely, which indicates that MR learned a thing or two from the first few batches. This may be why the Star Corps helmets were the last announced, but the first to ship.

That being said, replicating a Fett paintjob of this calibur simply isn't possible for a mass produced piece. Hopefully MR can get something very close to this for $1,000 or less. That seems like a pipe dream, however.

That looks awesome Lee.
Congratulations are in order.
I think its great to see MR being open minded about tapping some civillian resources who are experts in regards to a specific prop/model.
Maybe you could put in a good word for me. ;)

Gino, I think your rep and skills preceed you and your eye for detail is unmatched. Now can I have some trooper armor? LOL.

Lee

Excellent Job. That is just drop dead gorgeous. I think I may spring for one oth those. I think MR learned a tihng or to after the Clone and Vader buckets.
