*NEW* Force FX sabers (kids) for $35

Re: Lightsaber LED drivers for $35

Interesting.

If they are the same drivers lights and blade... what makes them "for kids"???

Surely they have made the blade differently. I wouldn't think the price is what keeps parents from letting there kids have one. My ex GF's aunt wouldn't let me give one of mine to her 10 year old. A kid could litterally break anothers nose, put out an eye, bruises, God knows what!

Re: Lightsaber LED drivers for $35

It's the same LED blade, just shorter. The hilt is plastic like the $20 light up ones.

I wonder if this is a regular FX driver and soundboard, and could run a regular FX blade or a Lexeon LED.

Re: Lightsaber LED drivers for $35

I wonder if the parts could be cannibalized and installed in the Deluxe tron disks... hmmmm

I had a some reservations about getting the full on FX sabers, even with the removable blade, largely due to the price. This is more my speed. Additionally, like one person said at the linked forum, the shorter blade is good for me as I'm not that tall my own self (as the locals say). The blade on my "Joe Jedi" MR saber was just about right at 28". That's the length I chose for the blade I attached to the Hasbro toy Yoda saber that was released last year. Hopefully this'll be about the same.

Actually, if the hilt is correctly sized and the pic is accurate, the blade is probably beteween 24 and 28".

Yep, just printed it out and did a quick and dirty "scaling" and, depending on the size of the hilt, it's between 20 and 24" inches. Kid sized or ideal for close quarters combat. I wonder what others they'll introduce...?

Did a quick Google search and found they will be available Aug 1 this year. Initially the available models will be the Anakin ROTS and Vader ANH(ish). Hopefully more are in the pipeline. I watched the demo video from a toy show and while the blade is clearly not 36", it's not ridiculously short either.

I'm wondering if it's the same blade as the Yoda FX which is shorter and a smaller diameter then the rest of the FX line.

From a video on Youtube - look up "Hasbro Ultimate FX Toy Fair 2011" - it looks like there'll be only like 4-5 LEDs in the blade.

I don't know if it's the ambient light, or the diffuser in the blade isn't quite right but the LEDs are visble as individual light sources. I'd guess it's somewhere between 20 and 30.

my little brother freaked out when i showed him these! hes aways wanting to battle me with my fx's and im always afraid hes gonna break them so now he'll be happy and i wont have to worry about mine breaking!

This thread needs more pics!
I'm trying to find more High Res closeups of the sabers themselves...

They need to produce a green bladed saber as well, like the Luke ROTJ or Qui Gon Jinn. Maybe this would also be a good base for a new "Build Your Own Lightsaber" kit.

On a semi-related note: Did anyone notice that "regular" FX saber on the wall in the background (of the video)? It doesn't look like any of the major Jedi sabers produced in the past. I looks like the Mace Windu TPM or...?

well, for $35 you really cant complain on the leds. If you know a little bit about wiring you could easily add more leds like Brrogers said.
