New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Wait...

Police man...

Police box...

THAT DEVIL! :lol

Who wants to bet he is either:

A. The Valeyard

or

B. The Master's next regeneration, lol.

You can see that I am not being serious. :lol

But seriously, a last second twist like that would seem very weak, and in my opinion, would be more lame than The Gunfighters from the First Doctor era! :sick

Trying to get this back on topic a bit............ :)

Just finished watch the eccelston season. I hadn't seen any since the original airings and i have to say, after now watching all the classic who, it makes more sense. I also either had forgotton or missed some obvious things on the first go-round. Lots of good explanation to connect to the past for those who hadn't seen it, but still it makes loads more sense after seeing the past episodes. The chameleon circuit comes to mind. They might actually have used the same or similar dialog in describing it. Hard to say been a while since the classic episode that explained it as well :)

I think it also takes after the classic eps as well. Seem to fit well with them. There seems to be more of a change to what's more recent as opposed to 2005 vs classic, but maybe that's me.

I also think he go the best sign off line ever...

"...Rose, you were great. And you what? So was I!"

He was.

I sure hope he makes an appearance this coming year. And I also hope they keep all the appearances under wraps as much as possible.

I wouldn't count on it.

I have VERY mixed feelings on "going back to the well" for any kind of 50th. On the one hand, the nerd in me wants to see all of The Doctors (not companions - only current companion, with the obvious exception of Jack and River) we can on screen.

On the other hand... Fan Wank episodes are very hard to pull off well. Doc 9 is unlikely to return - so do you find a replacement (like Doc 1 in The Five Doctors), or come up with some lame reason they're not included (like Doc 4 in The Five Doctors).

Agreed. Eccleston is done with Doctor Who from what I've heard (he was very hesitant to do it in the first place).

I'd like to see some classic Doctors back for the 50th but like TheDoctor no companions (maybe Jack but please no River...). If they can't get an actor to reprise their role don't re-cast it, just omit them. What would be really cool? If Doctors 8 & 10 went on an adventure.

I dont think Chris Eccleston was hesitant to do Dr Who at all actually, he always talks with very high regard about the episodes he did, there were obvisouly conflicts of some sort with member or members of the production crew but thats something we'll probably never know much about. He has said though that he will 'never bathe in the same river twice' when asked about the possibility of returning, although I too would love to see him back, of all the newer Doctors he is by far my favourite, I thought Tennant was pretty good, but unfortunately I just find Matt Smith a bit too childish, again just my personal preference

One of the best shots of the whole new series was in his season. Dalek, when they first walk into the museum and he looks at the Cyberhead in the cas. Everything about that moment is perfect. The fact that his head lines up perfectly in the reflection, the dialog, the multiple emotions, all of it.

I still find a lot of complexity in that one simple moment.

I'm not by any means counting on it. Just that it'd be nice. I'd always heard he was afraid of the role (and returning to it) because it would typecast him. He hasn't been remotely typecast over it and i doubt one more appearance 8 years later would typecast him either.

But, just saying, it'd be a welcome treat is all.

I remember an interview with him and he said that originally he didn't want to do it because the original series was childish and had low production values. He said the only reason he did it was because it was RTD whom he liked.

That said yes, he does speak high regard of his time in the TARDIS. :)

I'd like to think he'd b up for a one-off for the 50th, I also think it'd be great if McGann had some screen time. I just hope they could find a way to make it not cheesy.

:thumbsup

Maybe some situation where he starts regressing through regenerations. That way we don't have the cheesy inter-Doctor dialogue and we can avoid the obvious missing of the first three Doctors.

Here is a quick synopsys that I posted on another forum...

I had a longer one written out somewhere!

The 11th Doctor is traveling in the TARDIS when he gets a call....from the Time Lord high counsel.

Yes, Time Lord high counsel.

He can't believe it, is it someone playing a joke on him, perhaps the Shadow Proclamation trying to goad him into revealing where he is, since he did disobey them and is in effect a renegade actively avoiding them.

But his curiousity gets the best of him and he answers the call. It is indeed Time Lords. From a parallel universe. They ask him for help! The multi-verses' are breaking apart, unravelling like a scarf with a frazzled thread. They are collapsing into each other with the entire fate of ALL universes at stake. If it is not fixed, all of the multiverses will disentigrate into each other, wiping everything out of exixtence.

11th Doctor agrees to help, not only to save the universes' but also to help his people, the Time Lords who have not suffered the same corruption that the ones from his universe did.

But he needs help! He can't do it alone. So who does he call? Himself! The only man that can help him. He gathers the Doctors from each of the different multi universes that are collapsing.

So, in one universe there is a 4th Doctor who never fell off the tower, and has not regenerated yet, so he is old.

In another universe, there is a 5th Doctor who was never poisoned, so he has not regenerated, etc.

But, there is no longer, in any universe a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Doctor, as in every universe they have respectively regenerated by now.

So, we get to have the actors, at their current ages, playing the Doctor.

The ultimate cheat! And we are all satisfied.

After the problem is fixed and they are all going back to their respective universe's, the 11th Doctor waves a sad goodbye, and says.... "In the words of a dear old friend. Lovely Chaps, all of them!"

Good idea, I could see that working! 'Splendid fellows' wasn't it? If you and I are thinking of the same Lethbridge Stewart quote :thumbsup
