New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

That should have been filmed. Because otherwise, Brian has no idea what happened to his son and daughter in law, and that's damned irresponsible of the Doctor. Especially after that talk they had.

Actually, even the presentation they have there with the drawn slides works very, very well.

I thought that's what they were leading to with that talk. If they don't ever film anything I think it'll leave a bad taste in the mouth of fans.

I still say they'll probably do "the talk" just before Matt's regeneration.

Oh, that, yeah. BTW - I wanted to bring up a discussion point on an episode:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_Three_(Doctor_Who)

Unknown to anyone at the hospital where Rory works, a young girl with a cube controls a pair of identical orderlies with distorted faces to capture a few selected patients.

What was the point of capturing a few selected patients? It never seemed to be quantified or justified in the story. Just tossed in there like some throwaway horror angle or red herring.

Honestly? Just an excuse to have some weird "alien" and a reason to get the Doctor on to the ship. One of the more transparent plot devices sadly.

Yup, just bad writing. Something that's plagued the series since Matt Smith took the role, not that it's his fault, but the quality has definitely suffered.

Did I miss part of the video? Either that or you are very good at reading the facial expressions of storyboard characters.

Dr WHO is rapidly losing the plot........ it's all getting FAR too convenient, a wave of the Sonic here, a press of a button there.

Let's get back to a single story over 5 or 6 episodes with some depth to it and cliffhangers.

I'm finding I have to have a PHD in Dr WHO to watch it these days, it doesnt flow without you knowing what happened 3 years ago in an episode.

I watched MERLIN the other night and was completely captivated, it was just Good TV that flowed and you didnt have to think too hard about it, u just sat back and enjoyed it.

Well for sure. But it is not a problem with the current writers, show runners or actors. Its partly why I simply avoid Doctor Who discussion forums...some people just cannot look past the current stuff without comparing to the previous shows. It's almost as bad as OT purists talking about the new trilogy.

At least in the new series the sonic has not repaired barbed wire or exploded gas :p

Seconded.

Having grown up on a steady diet of US TV where most problems, from hurt feelings to world peace (it seems) were solved within an episode, I find it very refreshing to watch a show that requires you to remember more than what happened in the first few minutes of the show. The seasonal and sometimes longer story arcs are a nice change of pace.

The only thing about the new sonic that bugs me a little is him using it as an analysis tool. There's no readout so it looks silly when he's looking at it and apparently reading information.

Easy to overlook though.
