New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

As for the Doctor's age.. one of the Audio books seems to have tackled that issue.
Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor On Age - YouTube

Which would mean more if the Audio Books were considered canon, but there's no definitive answer on that. And I doubt the accounting for the length of a year based on where he is bit works if it's mostly Earth humans he talks to when giving contradictory answers :)

But yeah, it plays to Moffat's he-just-doesn't-know theory, which is easiest to go with.

I've been enjoying this run of Who, but then I'm one of those weirdos that can browse the Tardis wiki gobbling up minutiae and random facts whilst not being so obsessive that "a contradicts b" means I want to kill the writers. Maybe it helps that I've never read any of the novels, and the only non-tv stories I would consider canon are the full-cast Torchwood radio plays.

If you really don't like the latest stories that's ok, but that doesn't mean you have to repeatedly beat people over the head with how bad you think they are. Let's all agree to disagree.

The Doctor: They're just not ready. You're happy to believe in something that's invisible, but if it's staring you in the face—"Nope! Can't see it." There's a scientific explanation for that. You're thick.
Mickey: We're just idiots.
The Doctor: Well... not all of you.
Mickey: Yeah?

I loved that Amy basically killed Kovarian, I hated her.

Yeah, but that was in the redundant timeline. So I'm guessing she's still around.

Cuts both ways with the 'RTD and his evil gay agenda, weak arcs & terrible gags' guys who seem to have conveniently forgotten the amount of fantastic 9 & 10 stand alone episodes, a huge weakness in 11's run so far.

I have to agree that the lack of quality of said films from that particular neck of the woods requires a semi-quotation around the word since it is used in a fashion that could be constrewed as almost incorrect.

Granted its another episode by Moffat but in Silence in the Library the 10th Doctor did say he "lied a bit" and lied to shut Donna up.

Does every incarnation of the Doctor lie, or just 11? I don't recall any specific instance of 9 or 10 lying and being called on it or copping to it.

They gotta be careful with this "the Doctor lies" stuff or no one will believe him.

I loved the finale. I'm sad to see people going on news sites talking about the finale doing nothing but whining and griping in comments about how bad this season was, how bad Moffat is, how bad Davies was, how bad new Who is.

I just hope I wasn't the only person to bawl their eyes out at the nod to the Brigadier.
Actually, I was crying through a good third of the episode, then shrieking with excitement by the end. Total rollercoaster.

I still have some questions though, but I get the feeling they'll eventually be answered. Series 7 can't come soon enough.

The nod to the Brigadier was greatly appreciated and touching. I was really hoping we would get to see him with the Doctor one last time, but only the Doctor goes on.

Agreed. Definitely felt the Brigadier moment in the gut. So well done. Not sure if this has been posted....only current through A Good Man Goes to War but you can fit the recent pieces in.

I did not catch this on my first viewing of the episode. The last thing #10 and River ever said to each other in the Library is the last thing #11 and River said to each other at the lake but reversed....which you have to admit is pretty cool when you think about it.

Think maybe it was a subtle way of bringing the River arc to a close?

I am still convinced, and I know I'm in the minority, that we will never see the Doctor give River her Sonic Screwdriver.

I think (if they want it that way) they closed the River arc perfectly. She's in jail by day, by night they go off and have all the adventures they have mentioned in passing. If she never appears in another episode, that's a great write off in my book.
