NEW Call of Duty BLACK OPS!!!

anyone else picking it up at midnight? I have reserved at a local game store that is opening at midnight for eager beavers.

debating whether to or not.

Am I that hardcore? I'm in my thirties - should I be doing that kind of stuff now?!

I've picked the last two up at midnight (in my thirties too). I'm a teacher and the looks on my students faces when I show up is pretty funny. Unfortunately I won't be able to get this one at midnight. We're going to see John Williams that night and by the time I get home it will be two in the morning.

My best friend is a HS counselor and sometimes he uses COD to break the ice with some of his more shy students. He said they won't say a word for 10 minutes then once he starts talking about video games and COD they open up and won't shut up for 30 minutes.

Regarding Black Ops. How do you earn "COD Points"? I've grown to hate multiplayer on MW2 so I don't even play it anymore. If I get BO, and I'm still undecided, it'll be for campaign mode, zombies, and private matches with my friends. If I can only earn COD points playing multiplayer, I won't even bother.

Well the point system is for the multiplayer so you earn points in multiplayer.

Awesome game so far. I think my Xbox is dying because it kept freezing on me. I like the points system so that I can get the attachments I want when I want without having to grind through others that I don't like using.

I like the maps so far, and from what I've been reading online there are tons of easter eggs hidden.

I really like the Dead Ops mode also.

But for me the biggest suprise is that fact that you can do split screen online multiplayer. Finally!

now i'm getting 1 fps... with a gtx 470... something is wrong; obviously coded like crap. waiting for patch...

From what i've been reading on the PC Forums I vist
the PC Crowd got shafted again with the release...

LOT'S of issues with the game running properly
for the pc guys, but none of them for the console
gang... Times like these I'm happy I'm not that into
gaming anymore... :lol

You are correct it is horrible for the PC crowd. I about threw my mouse. It seems like it wasn't even tested for the PC like stated before looks like I too will have to wait for the patch. Sucks since it was PC that established there fan base. FPS wouldn't be what it is without PC gamers in the beginning.

No skin off my back, Qui. I left Treyarch early on in development of Black Ops. I was surprised to find out yesterday that they still gave me an "additional art" credit on the game.

The reviews are very positive so far, though. Many are saying Treyarch finally outdid IW, and the sales #s are surpassing MW2 already.

Looks like my dumb ass walked away from the new best selling title in entertainment history! :lol

Got it. I love the stats. Seems I shoot most of the guys in the groin. :lol I also like how the world map shows all the people online.

The game itself seems a bit clunky at first. Maybe slower than the last one. I like being able to buy equipment, but I'm too worried that I'll spend it and need it later on down the road for a better weapon. Like I bought the uzi I think and it takes me an entire clip to bring down one dude. I'll probably never use it again.

I think if you can hold off until level 14 and buy the famas, that would be a good starting weapon to do some serious damage.

The voting for the maps is cool. I was with a group who played that nuclear town over and over and over. Really racked up the points there.

It still behaves like the others in that I can still run into people, shoot first, and still die. :lol

Nah man, I have a feeling you will do fine. I so wanted this to blow up in Activision's face, but the Lemming mentality seems to have people gripped.

I'm on PS3 and it kept freezing on me too. So far, I'm not impressed. Not to mention, the little remote control car is the dumbest thing ever.

Twice I got put into matches that were 2 vs 6. That never happened with IW's releases. And the old WaW spawning nightmare is back too. You die, then you spawn right next to an enemy. Die again, repeat. It's ridiculous. I'm leaning towards returning it tomorrow. If that happens, I won't buy another Treyarch game.

How did you get past the DX install problem? Mine just hangs there at step one of two and doesn't move.

i just installed call of duty 1 united offensive and there are still servers!

this is the best game ever made ......period.

you don't need fancy graphics if you have great gameplay.

been thundering about in tanks the last couple of hours and my arms hurt now :cry

I'm really enjoying Black Ops so far. It's taken a lot of what I love about 4 (nice variety of maps, better balance) with the few things I liked about 6 (various killstreak rewards, better automatic weapons). I just got to level 46; the Commando is sick, but the G11 (the final assault rifle) is EXTREMELY deadly. It's a three-round burst weapon with 45 shots in a magazine; higher rate of fire than the M16 with seemingly the same (if not better) damage, it's hyper-accurate, and you can get a variable sniper scope with it too.

Another gun to get: the last LMG: the Stoner. With extended mags it holds 60(!) shots, without only 30. The irons are excellent, so you can use it in conjunction with the extended mag without problem. It kills SUPER fast, is pretty dang accurate, has a nice rate of fire, is magazine-fed so it reloads very quick. With scavenger, slight of hand, and marathon... it's unstoppable.
