Hello
i have been looking into making a Sith Acolyte armour/mask set for the Episode VII premier, i have been fascinated with the armour sets that people on this forum have made. i have started researching the basics on how to make armour and i am a little confused as to how it all works. however i do have access to a great 3D printer. i was hoping to 3D print as much of the costume as i can but i know that i have to overcome a few issues first. the main one being, are there any .STL files available for 3D Printing costume parts. the printer i use has a 200x200x150 build box so i know i cant make things like thigh plates or chest plates in one go this way, BUT i could do them in sections or something.
my issues with the conventional method of Papekura and then cutting foam is that i have absolutely no experience with this and i am afraid of spending alot of money on material only for me to waste it, i am great when it comes to working with plastics and metal but with paper and foam is something i am a little fresh to. looking at the folds and joins needed to make the Pepakura templates into a 3D object looks very daunting to me so i am just trying to figure out a way i can get around this using the methods i am most skilled at.
i have seen costumes by the likes of Markandson and Mynock and they are amazingly impressive. the amount of effort and detail in these pieces are extraordinary, and would like to replicate these quality of costumes. but i have no idea where to start, i know it will be a long tedious process but am i taking on too much to begin with?
Thanks
