New BMF coming

Decided to repaint the Falcon...don't ask me why, it didn't look right somehow. Still work in prog (Streaking not complete and Pigments still to be done)

Before

To Pale and not enough contrast, also the Streaking was done just random (using the technique from Fichtenfoo)

New Paint Job

More Contrast and I am trying to streak the model closer to the Original...not 100% but closer then before.

Oh and almost forgot, something that some ppl forget or don't see (at least looks like that)
The Original Models have those tiny markings all over...like this.

Might be a little bit of extra work, but I really think it ads to the overall (Falcon) look if applied. At least I am gonna give it a go :)

Well done Cap'n! I've been letting mine cook since I last touched it. When my Fz6 parts show up, I'll do another push.....I have a good idea of what I want to correct paint wise.

Hi guys

Got a question for the Landing Light Positions

This is one interpretation from some Japanese or Korean book (no idea what its called)

And this is another interpetation from Mark Kozik

Which one is correct or is both wrong? or is it simply based on what one could see in the film. Thinking especially on the Asteroid and Bespin Scenes from ESB. Any ideas?

The full scale Falcon from ESB was the only version of the ship to actually have landing lights. I honestly don't think anyone knows the exact locations for sure. That first photo is from the Haynes Guide. Must have a Korean version. In the movie I remember seeing the lights on either side of the boarding ramp and red landing lights.

Cheers kokkari

I sorta thought the same “don't think anyone knows the exact locations“. And thanks for the info on the Haynes Guide just orderd me one of amazon for 20€. I prepared my Hasbro Falcon based on the Mark Kozik plan and think it will look cool enough. I am planning to make a base using a Black Gloss Plexi plate with allen bolts and what have you, but the point of the Gloss Plexi is to reflect the lights underneath.

The cover of the Star Wars Blueprints book has the blueprint to the Falcon's underside on the cover which shows the location of the landing lights on the full studio set.

I have a set of Randy Cooper Photo-etch (6) exhaust grille covers in the classifieds if anyone is interested...

I must assume that one has to specify *which* Falcon they are building or using as a source of inspiration. As noted, the "full size" set implementation apparently differs from the filming models. Going for accuracy or going for 'the look', it will fall to the individual modeler what they wish to achieve.
At the very least, the results should be interesting!

Actually, the 5-footer was modified for TESB with landing lights. In the wide shots showing the Falcon parked inside the asteroid cave, it's the 5-footer and we can see the lights added to the underside of the hull. In this photo, you see square plates that have been added with a black dot, the light source, in the middle following the front curve of the hull.

There are:
2 lights at the front of the lower jaw box;

4 lights on either of the lower hull (3 in front of each landing gear box and 1 on the outside of the lower maintenance area);

and 2 on each side of the lower rear quarter, one of which is hidden inside a part in the lower rear engine deck.

Excellent reference Photos Hunk a Junk. As my next build will be the RC Tantive IV, those pics will for sure come in handy.
The Star Wars Identities exhibition is coming to Cologne (Germany) on the 22 of May and I will for sure try to get as many photos shot as I can. Better not go on the opening day though :p

Cheers and thanks!
