New BMF coming

Tony,

Could you show a comparison shot of the BMF falcon cockpit and the longer one you have on SW??

Thanks buddy.

On another note, i just got part 2 of the Deagostini kit. In my opinion you cant use the original cockpit with this cockpit set up. The front part where the control panel sits makes it too long, and im not sure how far back the rear cockpit wall/door should go into the tunnel?

This is a big project... It's like designing half Falcon :facepalm
But I love the idea...

The problem is that it can't be on Shapeways because it's too big. It must be casted definitively. I can design it as four separate parts, but is a huge project. I will think about it.

That would be awesome. Maybe one that has pipe and one that can be cast and pipes added after like you said for the docking sections.

I don't see exactly the idea... The whole entire panels surrounding the pits, only half panel, only the border of these panels...? Can you post a pic here with the proposal?
If you are talking about to add a thin plastic over the existing panel to make the overhang, you must erase the existing panel because the thing will be too thick.

Not the hull panels. The entire "pit piece". I'm talking about the entire piece, walls and all. Then we can just cut out the entire original and pop yours in then add pipes. If I remember from an earlier discussion some are recessed a bit as far as the pit pieces walls go and some are flush. The pipes should be left off yours as they need to "go further" on the hull and that would make casting them easier.

As far as cost I think it's perfect because you can go as crazy as you want or not. You can also do it a piece at a time. Shapeways is not going anywhere.

Personally I'm getting everything eventually.

The entire resin kit and I'm up to nearly $500 on Shapeways but what the heck, it's going to be an awesome model. No clue how long it will be before I can get all this but it will be epic.

I haven't been around these parts lately but have been watching this thread while working on one of these myself. I have received many parts from FZ6 and they are amazeballs. While I love the parts, I am a 3D artist (mostly real time visualization/simulation/training-video games sans fun) so while not wanting to re-invent the wheel, I felt guilty for not getting my hands dirty and contributing. I have not made these parts available on Shapeways yet and I plan a few more pieces,if people are into it I will put them up. I am going for the 5 Footer so beware. The Tank Deck vents are spiral on both sides, instead of one being "straight",and there is no hinge represented on the door. Both due to "good enough for me" laziness:$. The fins are as good as reference would allow me. Next up for me would be the center engine area that connects the center control flap and Tank deck (Panzer?)DeckFins001.jpgDeckPanz001.jpgKumBiAh001.jpgThese are my first prints and Im pretty stoked (god I'm old)

Tony,

I hate to mention it as each time I do my wallet gets thinner but have you made a ramp for the New Hasbro yet??

Not yet. I've to resize my actual design to fit the Hasbro.

My concerns:

-How to do the hinge where it attaches to the hull -must be invisible and the ramp has to be fully functional-.
-The final part of the ramp where the docking ring is. The final part behind the docking ring panel or the ramp is a part of the lower zone of the docking ring? We must cut the lower part of the docking ring and convert the external part of the ramp into this docking ring part?

Any graphical suggestion will be well received.

Good job!!!

The parts look nice.

Here we're working mainly on the 32" version. Good to have a 5" way.

I see.
It's possible. It's only question of time. I will add it to my to do list, big to do list...

While I am doing 5 Footer details, I am also using your 32inch details. Mostly I prefer the way the flaps and controls are set up on the 5 but actually prefer most of the 32" greebles.
Also Tony, my name is Tony, always nice to meet another T.

Has anyone ever stopped to ponder what Star Wars would have been had the original Falcon design been used? Hard to imagine it swooping through the asteroid belt or indeed racing from the TIE fighters.

Guess we all have Gerry Anderson and Space 1999 to thank...and of course we got the iconic Blockade Runner too...The Classic 2 for 1 deal

Cheers Gerry

And cheers to George for seeing it and changing the Millennium Falcon for the better.

Would Star Wars have been the same...I don't think so. What came from a humble hamburger, became a classic ship design.

Should we all praise McDonalds?

I love all those early designs,...I can only hope that these early designs will pop up in the new Star Wars films & cartoons

A concept drawing of Jabba recently appeared in Star Wars Rebels,.....sort of:

I've often thought it would be nice to have this version along side the 32 inch falcon, as it would be at a scale possible to do ( as opposed to 6 foot model of blockade runner )

Walmart has the BMF on clearance for $30 I just grabbed 2 at my local and they had 2 more

Am I wrong or is a budget friendly resin kit in the works? I know randy cooper is offering a conversion kit for $120 but that is a tad salty for a $30 dollar toy. Kinda stuck in limbo. Debating on picking up a butchered Legacy Falcon for parts.

It's a VERY fair price for the work, artistry, materials, and labor put into a conversion kit. The cost of what you're putting it onto is irrelevant.

Tony,

I noticed on your MPC Falcon Cone you added the side consoles. Any chance we could get a New Hasbro Cone that has them???

Thanks

Tom

I just found one at Argos here in the UK for £21.99. Out of hundreds of stores, I found one store in Leigh that had only one in stock.
I had a £10 voucher for Argos that I've had for months, so I used it and got the Falcon for just £11.99!

Keith.
