This thread is so big now that its difficult to follow! LOL! I would love to see a sticky or a concise summary of where to look for all the available aftermarket parts to work with the Hasbro. Im now working on a MPC model getting my feet wet to next tackle the Hasbro. I may not go for the whole details to make it 100% screen accurate but would love all the proper details possible and a full cockpit to light up with fiber optics.

I suggested a separate thread covering parts available but no one thought it a good idea...hey ho

Hey Scarecrow, my full MPC upgrade kit will be released during mid-to-late February. The improved photo-etch has been designed and I'm in the process of moulding the final parts. I also commissioned my highly talented friend Jem to draw the box art and instructions. It's in the works! Just hold out a little longer

Yes, you're right. The greeble on the Hasbro is skewed because it makes possible to extract the part from the mold. It must be this way because the mould is rigid not flexible. A little secret to make a lot of details with an industrial mould plastic injection machine.

I'm starting to think Tony might actually be evil ???????

I saw his MPC upgrade parts for the Falcon. I thought, cool but I don't need them because I want my MPC Falcon to be like the one in the Lucas Archives that would not have had any upgrades obviously. It was just built out of the Box,.........

Then, and this is where his evil genius takes hold, I realized as many do, I have another MPC Falcon Model. The cutaway version still sitting in it's box.

Now I want every darn, stupid, awesome, upgrade piece on Shapeways that he has designed for my other MPC Falcon.

This thread has grown so fast. From when it was started in Jun 14 it took 4 months to get a full 22 pages but in the last 2 months over 50 pages have been added. For modellers this was definitely the sleeper hit of the year. However, I'm still not sure if this product would be considered a success yet for Hasbro. Modelers weren't the target demographics that Hasbro was aiming for.

Obviously they realised that perhaps their Legacy and TVC BMF's was out of the price range for many people, after all how many parents can afford to spend as much as $250 (in the case of Australian parents) on a single toy for kids. The average person won't know how accurate this is or about Tony's goodies for it. As a parent, and I'm sure it is the same with everyone here that has kids, when I look for a toy for my little man I'm looking for the play value in it and how he is going to enjoy it. While Hasbro have got the size and price right they've fallen down with the lack of features in this product. It is possible Hasbro were/are hoping there will be a lot of parental influence with this toy with at least one parent having grown up with Star Wars that they would then attempt to influence their child to also liking Star Wars. But in a tech savvy world a basic toy like this can easily be overshadowed by things like Play Stations, X Boxes and iPad's and be left in their wake so I won't be at all surprised when these start showing up in yard/garage sales or even flea markets.

If this toy is a success it will be because of the modeller and not because of a parent buying a toy for their child.

My apologies if I have damped the mood but for Star Wars modelers it is definitely one of the best releases EVER at a commercial level.

I have made a Hasbro previously and it turned out well. As a base their work is great for us anal modellers :lol

I already have a few of the correct donor kits, the Tamiya Matilda and Tyrell P34....shermans....panzers etc. I could scale up the PE for the MPC as well.....I don't think i'd be able to get it released fast enough though. I think the interest in the Hasbro Falcon will wane soon enough

Without rescaling and re manufacturing how close is the pe cockpit strip and engine vents to the Hasbro ? If it could be used as is would you sell individually ?

My new PE design won't fit the Hasbro at all.....the MPC is about 60% the size of the Hasbro. The only reason that the cockpit strip from my first PE kit fitted onto Jaitea's Hasbro Falcon is because I purposely made the strip too long so that it could be cut to the desired length. The new kit has that piece as the correct length for the MPC but the MPC only

I manage to scale the blueprints from Hayes to the proper scale of the MF. I have to say it almost a perfect fit.

Has anybody tried this? Can we use this in our MF?

I've already bought it.
Bondic is a resin that cures under UV light. You apply the resin, and after that you must cure it with the UV led that's on the kit. If you don't apply the resin, it remains liquid. After applying the UV light it hardens. After that it can be sanded, shaped, drilled and painted.

Bondic only can be applied to external surfaces. If you want to bond two parts, as example, a flat panel over the hull, it doesn't work. The reason is that the resin must be cured with UV light, and if the resin is covered by a plastic panel the UV light is blocked and the resin doesn't cure. The resin between the panels doesn't cure. So, it's not a glue, it's an excellent gap filler.

It's perfect for filling gaps. If you have to fill a big hole/gap you must apply the resin and cure it in small quantities, until the gap/hole is filled. You can bond two parts but if the parts are placed side by side.
