New BMF coming

The back wall I see as no problem...but wondering for the fiber-optics..How much room do you have for the side/wall panels...is there enough room for them? How snug is this cockpit inside the tube?

Great question. So I trimmed the cockpit tube and positioned all of the cockpit pieces and the extra long cockpit nose cone to see how it would fit. Here's what I found:

If you try to position the cockpit as Tony designed it and remain "accurate" you will have to do major surgery on the interior support posts as they will get in the way. However, if you trim the floor of the cockpit by about half an inch it may not be as accurate but in my opinion it will look better and install far easier.

As for the LED versus EL light panel for the roof: there is virtually no room to get very much of anything in between the roof panel and the hull. If you were willing to trim the rear wall circumference by about 3 mm it would open up the number of possibilities. However, as it is I would be very resident to try to bend a fiber-optic 90° to wedge it in there. EL panel would probably fit but you will also probably not see the light it would produce.

My suggestion: trim the floor of the cockpit so that the overall cockpit is shorter; cheat the positioning of the roof down by a few millimeters. This will mean a slightly more claustrophobic cabin but in my opinion it will not be noticeable and The trade-off will be well worth it because it will make it possible to put fiber everywhere. Then use fiber optics and an LED engine to light everything.

Hi guys !

I don't know if you ever talked about sidewalls replacement. Someone already made Hasbro Falcon sidewalls on Shapeways. Unfortunately Shapeways page is down since this morning so I can't see it. Just type "Millennium Hasbro sidewalls" on Google image and see. May be someone have already use them and may give us feedback about it please ?
Thanks

Yep, many people in this thread are already all over them :) For myself, I'm waiting anxiously for the resin set that's going to be produced by Mr Salzo from the Shapeways pieces. I DID find a pepakura pattern for the Revel cockpit and gun ports I forgot I had downloaded some time ago, that I've resized and am going to mess around with and see if I can produce a reasonable looking alternative to the more expensive pieces though.

I am anxiously waiting for more pictures. They truly looking amazing ! I begun myself to draw sidewalls for 3d printing but now that I know it is existing, I will probably buy it.
Can't wait Shapeways page to get back for more informations about this. Thank you to the one who made this wonderful job.
Just one question: is there ALL the sidewalls available (including inner mandibles walls) ? ? ?

Looking so nice ! But out of price for me... 170$ for all :cry
Her sidewalls will stay flat until I buy my personal 3d printer.
However,Mr TonyRR have made a wonderful job.I tip my hat to him.

I just received the ESB accurate satellite dish from Shapeways today and it looks fantastic. I checked the mount on the stock dish that comes with the Hasbro and it is no where close to accurate. Any idea on what should be used as an accurate mount for this dish? Will anyone be making this part?

I know some of us, myself included, will just be modifying the stock mount for the dish.

I think i've gone in for $300 bucks or so in parts :) There will be a resin version of these parts offered next year that will be cheaper. Not sure if they will be exactly the same..looking at some of the parts I have there are lots of bits sticking out this way and that way. I like TONY's parts because he has done all the research for me and done a good job turning that research into parts. Cheers to him. The more parts he makes, the closer I get to a real falcon! :)

I think the mount is a REDO! :) Then again...the mount is the simplest part on the entire falcon..so if one was to make a new part...this is the part to do :)

And others among us are really lazy and waiting for Tony to make one on Shapeways which I believe he is doing. :)
Yeah I am hoping for that... I've slowed down to see what he makes :) I'd actually be fine if he remakes the entire falcon part by part now :)

So far everything on Shapeways will be available in resin except the cockpit set if I remember Tony correctly.

Had a raging cold last two days so got some modelling done

Two Inserts

Started on the missing sticker panels using mojos templates. Each template has to be individually notched and cut to size, so it takes some time. Using references from the 32 inch which is the Falcon I first fell in love with.

Just as a note to everyone, Humbrol Liquid Poly works great on the BMF plastic to mount the 10 thou plastic panels and its easier to deal with than superglue.

Also started removing the pipework on the rear deck, needs tidying but its a start
