New BMF coming

Oooh, sign me up for Shapeways recessed components. I don't care how sharp the knife is, doing all the detailed cutting along the edges of the recessed parts is tedious and prone to cutting the carp out of ones self after a while.

On another sidebar I've been testing the flame/torch method for making paint stick on scrap pieces cut from the model and it works really well and is not hard to figure out how to do; at least for small areas. You can see the changes in the surface as you apply heat; and it doesn't take much. It kinda initially smooths out the surface and then does some kind of micro bubble outgassing before it actually distorts the material. The pieces I have tested the paint adheres as one would desire afterwards.

Hey all,

With all the new stuff for the Hasbro Falcon already out there, here is yet another add-on.

This upgrade consists of 18 resin (6x 3), and 9 PE (6x + 3) parts. You get 6x resin exhaust fan inserts (2 parts each), plus 6x PE grilles, then another 6x retainer rings. As well, you get three smaller grilles for atop the docking tubes.

This will be available from the SSM store sooner than later (but not before Xmas): They will (as of now) sell for $48.00 USD.

MMI-7781 - 01
MMI-7781 - 02
MMI-7781 - 03
MMI-7781 - 04
MMI-7781 - 05

NOTE: The PE in the images is in fact a custom piece for the SMT 1/48 Falcon. The 7781 PE will have a smaller outer diameter as to not be seen when the retainer ring is added. Hopefully that makes sense.

Hey everyone, I have the set he made for the old MPC kit eons ago, and it is beautiful work. Definitely worth the $$ Consider this a ringing endorsement if you're on the fence.

Awesome. Thanks so much for posting these. This along with the gun turrets and cockpit rear wall detail makes it more detailed than the MR.

My only real complaint with the MR Falcon was the lack of choice in flying angle or landing and that darn sticker on the back wall of the cockpit. It was so odd to me that MR took that thing on, produced an incredible product, but then go with a sticker on the back wall. WT$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So although it may never be as detailed as my beloved and gone MR it will have details the MR did not.

Thanks again.

Oh, sorry, you asked if the MR had PE grills. No, they were solid molded resin.

Not at all, I really appreciate both pics. I never realized there was anything under the vents on the 5 footer.

I know somehow, someway, someone here is going to offer a 5ft kit and I will get one somehow :)

I was looking at the Radar Dishes on Shapeways. What about the Radar Mount??? It's really bad on the HSBRO Falcon.
The Radar mount that comes with the falcon is all wrong :) So if you want it to look right its a re-do part :) I was planning on making one from scratch.

Hmm this sounds interesting...but all I can see is me setting my falcon on fire...then running around like one of the stooges with flaming falcon in hand trying to put it out :)

Correct me if I'm wrong..but basically those vents are on top of actual small fans that most likely cooled the model so it would not melt when they turned on the engine lights :) I've read before these models had fans inside...this is just built into the design.

I was planning on Tony doing all the work and then I would just buy one. :)
Yeah I was kinda surprised the (shapeways) radar dish was just the dish , and not the mount.... I mean its not really something thats hard to make tho.

Wow those vent upgrade kits sound super sweet, nice.
The base of the radar dish isn't to hard to convert to a reasonable one, I have pics earlier in the thread but I'm at work now and can't post pics :)

Walmart...the falcon is back up in price to $59 bucks on their web page, yet claims to be a rollback price. It's possible the $29 buck price was an error? It is also listed as completely OUT OF STOCK(Online and in stores), when earlier today it was showing in 3 stores in my area...odd

On a whim, I decided to stop in at my local Walmart yesterday. Low and behold, guess what I found?

So, I grabbed one. I thought about asking about the online price match, but just wanted to get out of there!

Any chance we'll be able to buy the PE without the resin add ons? I'm just going to just scratch the "fans" underneath the grilles. Is anyone doing a complete PE set, with cockpit details and other doo-dads?
