New BMF coming

QUOTE=glunark;3519187]Picked up some more pound shop stuff, got some irredescent packaging material to help scatter the engine light, and for the engine mesh I got some mesh! Although on close inspection its maybe too small, but then I noticed the disposable trays they fetch the take aways to us at work, and thought, hello!

I think we're all at this now, I contacted koolshade in the uk, but at 35 sterling it is a bit steep unless I could split it between a number of local modellers, I did think the back of used razor blades might make nice grills

Ok I should be wrapping stuff but these came today so I thought I'd share.
The light up dog collars do work quite well. Bright enough for my living room anyway.

As they are thin you don't need to cut to much away, this is with nothing cut away and it still looks quite good.
I am going to try cutting little grooves into the clear bit of the collar to improve the constant of brightness. I'll do more but I haven't finalised that yet.

Merry Christmas everybody :)

Looking good Spacebob!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

I have received my first batch of the parts that i have started to clean and prep for molds and casting.

I will say that even in frosted ultra detail there will be some "grow" lines to contend with, needing sanding and polishing. That is even after the wax clean up. I think i spent about an hour and a half on just 1 sidewall of cleaning, so be prepared to put some time in. QUOTE]

That's just f-ing crazy at these prices that's over 10 hours just prepping the pieces. Why not get them in resin at that point for cheaper? This is the sort of thing thing that requires a disclaimer before you plop down $170.

The Pyro Tyderium thread had an idea that made me go "hmmmmmmmmmm....." - leads from mechanical pencils laid up side by side. Might work here too.

Mike is doing clean up on all the parts he is casting. Several have mentioned before that the resin parts would be much cheaper with less work involved.

I did have one shapeways part question...

On the cockpit..the back ring kinda forms a lip around the cockpit and not flush ...is that the way the real model is?

Hi TronGod.

Is that way. The lip doesn't flush. There's a little step.

Merry Christmas!!

Is someone offering resin castings for cheaper price than those on Shapeways ? If yes, I would be interested. Thanks a lot.
Merry Christmas to all of you.

Is anyone tackling the piece between the mandibles on the front which has no detail, dont know the correct name for it? I cant seem to find any reference pics.

Are you talking about the jawbox, upper and lower parts? I'm designing them.

For sure they will be offered too in a resin kit for the Hasbro we're preparing with Mike Salzo. :D

Yes. Mike Salzo is working on a complete resin kit for the Hasbro. it will include a lot of parts, sidewalls, radar, landing gear, cannons...

Merry Christmas

Today I undertook something I had been putting off because I thought it would be a ball ache...and it was a bit....removing the disks from the engine vents. Jaitea is making a resin copy of the 8 rib for me, so needed to get her ready for them. Broke a couple of scalpel bales, but got it done eventually. BTW thanks J, looking forward to getting them in place.

Tomorrow will be sanding the rear deck ( I have a big deck BTW :lol) and then adding the pipes and additional detail.

Primed the Shapeways parts and to be fair, I cannot see any grow lines, they look great so happy days. Could be my eyes of course...I am getting old :cry

But really they look fine without any micro sanding.

Merry Christmas one an all.

Waiting on the resin kit, thinking about ordering some cheapie tank kits from Amazon to improve one or two of the pits. I know in one of the other modification threads someone said the 1:72 king kit was what they had used, but looking at Amazon, that box art matches the 1:76 kits, which are way more numerous and in the right price range. Anyone comment on what scale I should be looking at between the two?

If you are going for the 32 inch look. they sould be two shermans ( both 1/76 one a mark 1 and the other the crab ) plus a 1/76 Matilda, the other insert a 1/76 panther.

If you are going for the 5 footer, then instead of theS

shermans, I think its a jagdpanther but it could be a jagdtiger, either way I think its 1/76. Even if it should be 1/72 on the 32 inch, 1/76 would be the way to go as the Hasbro is only 29 inches.

I bow to greater knowledge though. Personally I am going for the 32 inch.
