New Airsoft PR On Evike

Well depending on who you order from and what type of shipping you pay for you could have quite a bit of variability.

I ordered mine from Evike on 3/15 but its currently on pre-order with an estimated arrival of 04/2012 (hopefully it's the beginning of the month and not the end). Considering the cheapest shipping (UPS ground) was $17 that's what I opted for, if memory serves correct the next tier in shipping was like $40. I did have something else ship via UPS ground on 3/22 with an estimated arrival of 3/28 but then again I'm in Pennsylvania. If your on the west coast you ETA should be considerably faster.

Wait a minute - guys have already got theirs delivered but if you order directly from the source they're saying pre-order?

And I see you're exercising proper care with your trigger finger!

What is the shipping time on this?

I ordered mine from evike and paid for cheapo ground shipping. Going from CA to NH it took a week from when I placed the order to be in my hands.

They may have sold out of the intial batch and are waiting for another shipment, hence it is back on Pre-order.

Considering ordered mine about a day behind Flagg I would have to tend to agree with Robiwon. Not too mention if this thread is any indication I would have to say that sales on this item are pretty strong. As soon as I get an update that it's in stock and shipping I'll post an update.

Saw one today.

SCREAMS to be repainted. It is literally a chocolate brown, and certain parts that really should be black are green.

Otherwise, nice item.

Well I haven't received shipping notice on my PR from Evike yet, however, it's no longer listed as being a pre-order item on their website. Hopefully I'll get my shipping notice later tonight.

Saw one of these on display at the RPF party last weekend and ordered one from Evike on the spot.

I called the store on Monday and they were waiting for a shipment.

I was surprised to get a UPS notice that will be delivered on Monday...

The brown one you saw was mine- it actually came green, I put the brown on (a bit too dark to be brown bess...)

You're right about many parts that ought to be black are sort of a gun metal with a greenish tint. I may also cut the slots in the spass cage so that they go through...

Insert foot in mouth! :$

Got my PR today.

Overall happy with it but right away am feeling the absence of an operating manual.

HOW THE HECK DO YOU RELEASE THE STOCK?

I found the little button underneath the stock, but depressing it does not release the stock.

Some immediate reactions:
--The intrinsically colored plastic looks like - well - intrinsically colored plastic. I like the color, but it looks like PLASTIC. Needs a repaint.
--The vented cage on the upper barrel is loose, and rattles. Maybe a dab of JB Weld?
--The shot gun pump handle has a mold seam - did the real one? I suppose it can be sanded and repainted
--My shot gun shell is completely covered - no issue there
--Yes, the orange tips gotta go, as does the "Made in China"

I had the same problem! (I ended up taking the shrouds off to figure it out...)

Releasing the stock is easy- the button isn't the obvious black one you found (although I sure thought it should be, too...) But is instead the green rectangular button above the stock, flush with the end of the shrouds. Push that rectangle in while pulling the stock...

Doh! Too easy! I was thinking I may have to take it apart!

You're my hero!

Just got mine. To echo what others have said, this thing really could benefit from an instruction manual of some sort. That said, it's a killer replica, and the price only makes it more so.

If it wasn't for this thread, I would have been completely lost - PH, your question about the stock saved me a ton of time... Okay, now in the pictures below, I twisted the front end and found the wire, but mine didn't come with anything extra to put in there - can someone post a pic of what the battery looks like?

Also, my "Made In China" is engraved into the stock, did anyone else get one like this?

Mine looks just like that. The numbers are engraved, but the Made In CHine I don't think is. Either way, some black paint over the top should correct it.

I'm curious what the experts say about the paint colors. Not so much the shrouds, but the metal parts that have a greenish tinge to them (the stock, the vent). Is that in any way accurate to the film props or is that idealized by Evike?

Also, the charcoal grey body of the SPAS that the pump slides along -- should it really be grey?

By the way I did not get a battery charger.

Thanks PH...

Did yours have the little "Hop Up Edition" hang tag?

Sure does. Not sure why I haven't cut it off yet!

IMFDB has some great shots of the PR. Looks like the color scheme on the Evike is in fact idealized. The prop was Bess Brown and Black. Not metallic green, not grey.

Also, it seems the oval slots/vents in the SPAS body (that the grip slides along) should be open (or at a minimum, painted black). Not sure if I want to tackle drilling out these vents or not. I may just start with black paint.

Careful with the mods...its an addiction. A little addition there...a little change here and before you know it all thats left original is the Thompson :p

Having the proper vent holes in the SPAS cage really does make a difference though.

I'm not a fire-arms expert, so when I refer to the "SPAS body", I mean the large grey portion that the pump grip slides along (I refer to the triangle-shaped vented piece surrounding the upper barrel as the "cage"). Not sure if my terminology is correct or not...!

In many of the screen caps I found, its hard to tell if the molded-closed vents of the Evike SPAS body are in open or not on the film guns. But one or two do show them as open.

As mentioned, I think as a good starter, painting the SPAS body on the Evike a straight black will make a big difference. It will change (for the better) the overall look of the gun (correct color scheme), reduce the "plasctic-y" appearance of the SPAS body, and create a better illusion that the vents might be open.
