Netflix Recommendations Thread

your sneaky NETFLIX... you can still get it for 7.99 a month.... at standard def., then 9.99 for h.d. then 11.99 for SUPER H.D. I didn't click a button and I "somehow" confirmed that I wanted the h.d. plan... thanks.... you coulda just told me the 3 different plan's but instead its an "automatic" price jump. don't even touch a button and you have chosen.... :wacko

I don't know if you've got it in the US but ' Sicario' has just been listed . One of the best films I saw last year. Tense , brutal, great acting and striking cinematography and it stayed with me for a while. Think 'Zero Dark Thirty' in a drug war. Got a 94% on RT.

Stranger Things

This is something that REALLY took me by surprise. Now, I've talked with a few other people that found it boring, so maybe I'm in the minority, but I was hooked almost instantly. This movie spoke to me on a number of levels. It hit me in a very nostalgic spot with the group of kids, and reminded me of a handful of movies I appreciated as a child. The mystery is what kept me watching, though. It kept me guessing at each turn and I wanted to know more about the connections to certain people and certain events. The humor was on point and it was well acted, as well. Overall I'd say it's one of my favorite series I've seen lately. If you're an 80s, or even early 90s kid that enjoys a bit of mystery and suspense, I think you'd enjoy this one.

Here's looking forward to season 2.

Just got around to watching Cooked on Netflix and seemingly, like a lot of other folks, put me in the mood to make something. I tried baking after their last episode claimed how fairly easy it is and how bread is just "flour, water, and salt." I've never been a good baker, I can do just about all else but baking isn't a strong point of mine, but after seeing that episode, I was spurred on. Tried it today, hoping I could have it with some beef stew, and guess what? I've re-affirmed what I already knew: I'm terrible at baking! It's pale, flat, dense and heavy as a brick of gold minus the luster and value.

However, I'm not yet deterred. They said it's only "flour, water, and salt" and by gum, I'll make this work! That's the basic recipe mankind has worked off of for the last 4000 years and I intend to get it right!

...Beef stew turned out great, though.

Talking of cooking "Hannibal" has just been listed in the UK. I'd have preferred Eddie Izzard not to have been in it(can't get passed his comedic origins over here), but otherwise the cast is superb. Very, very grim but extremely addictive. Won't follow the cooking tips though. And Narcos is out today. That's the weekend sorted then!

If anyone has not watched Favreau's "CHEF", I can't recommend enough.

It was my favorite movie that year, and came out of NOWHERE.

I've watched multiple times.

Good family movie that's not at all a family movie.

It's just feel good all around.

top gun, jaws, and a little movie called...... uhhh.... oh yeah, saving private ryan, just added or re-added.. :p

Just watched Series 2 of Narcos,.....brilliant,....& it looks like theres a third series in the pipeline

Oh no. I thought Narcos was going to be a mini-series, 2 seasons max. Everyone knows how he ends; no point in drawing it out.

.....it ends.....for Pablo.....but cleverly the series is called Narcos......so series 3 hopefully continues with the Cali Cartel,....Netflix hasn't confirmed a 3 series,...but the ending of the episode leaves it open

Probably been mentioned already, but just finished The Get Down - awesome, awesome series! Only five episodes but feels like so much more. Really enjoyable.
