I was thinking this could be pretty easy to put together. I work for a fine leather company. We make book covers and handbags, so I have access to quite a selection of leathers. My issue would be the data pad itself. Maybe a collaboration with someone…

Anyway, I’d like some input on exactly what’s happening on the cover. Excuse the crude mock-up, but I attempted to recreate it, but somethings not quite right with how the cord is attached to the actual pad. Any ideas?

Interesting. The smoked plastic cutout triangular shape definitely matches up, but the Walkman itself seems way too thick. Obviously it was heavily modded. May be easier just attempting to start from scratch with a 3-D model or maybe use an old crappy Fire tablet so that it has a workable screen.

Thanks for posting that! I never would have guessed that was the base for it. Very cool.

Actually, they only used the buttons from that cassette player.

I can’t even see the buttons, really! I do see they they retained the shape of the cassette door, but that’s about it.

I guess it’s not worth pursuing. I don’t have the skills or the printer to make anything. I just wanted to put together something close to the case he has stored in the hotel while in prison. I suppose I could just make the leather cover and and keep it closed with an journal inside or something.

I got a Sanyo cassette player after seeing MD's post. Happy to provide any more details on this if anyone would like. Additional photos here.

Looking at the toggles on the left that hold the cover cord. They seem like they may be something like zip tie mounts. These are kind of close, but not exact match

Nope. Too thin with too thin of buttons.

Maybe a more modern, but still mini cassette recorder.

Too thin to be a Walkman type.

Clearly has buttons for a physical mini cassette.

Great catch! Didn't see that video. According to prop master, they did it from scratch using Sanyo buttons.
