Need your opinions for my display project

Hey guys,

I would require your comments and suggestions.

I'm a huge fan of Vader. I just started my collection (few years late but never too late!) and got some very respectable pieces (IMO):

- Vader Legend Helmet (pre-ordered)
- Vader Attakus V1 and V2
- Vader lightsabers (ANH LE, ESB LE and ROTJ SE)
- Vader Lightsaber MR Blueprint
- Vader GG kneeling
- Vader GG ROTS
- Vader Koto
- Premiere Vader Card (Black bordered) Star Wars Customizable Games
- Vader ESB MR/FX Lightsaber

(This list is in my personnal preference order which matters)

I have a perfect empty space in the basement where I want to build my "Vader shrine" as I call it. It is 92 inches high by 77 inches wide and 22 inches deep.

I personally think that the way collectables are displayed matter the uppermost. I took a look at different collection displays and have to say that I have some issues when there's too much stuff, especially when rare pieces are drown into common pieces.

I really think that rare items (such as the helmet and attakus versions) deserve space and focus with proper lightning.

There's also the eye factor (which I call the eye level) where prefered pieces (list above is ordered in my personnal preference order) should be at the eye level for emphasis.

Again, it is my opinion and I do not want to offend anyone. Also you might think I'm over exaggerating but that's fine. This is the way I'm thinking (and you're open to reply to it, all comments are welcome).

My problem is ... I love too much Vader stuff! I would want everything to be at the eye level.

So, I created XLS spreadsheets where each square is one inch. I really need your inputs, comments and ideas.

Note that I will place some pucklights and tried to clear about 4 inches (min) under it for heat issues. Shelves are 2 inches high (to allow the pucklights).

Since I want also to display only few pieces per shelf and don't want to feel it too empty, I want to display the COAs into black bordered framework.

Choice 1 was the "ideal" way to display them (but don't include Vader SS Premium Format). To save space, I'm putting the Helmet + Attakus versions on a 8 inches steps behind the lightsabers.

But this morning, I wanted to go back to a previous display setting where the Lightsabers are isolated together, on a small shelf (10 inches high, since every item is 6 inches tall).

Also, I really don't know of the presents my 2 Attakus pieces with the Helmet and the Vader SS Premium format. They are all very tall (between 18 to 23 inches) so, optimal way would be to put them together on the same shelf.

I also got selected Boba Fett pieces (only my favorite ones):

- Boba Fett SE Blaster
- Boba Fett LE Helmet
- Boba Fett GG

And since I love MR stuff, I also have these:

Other MR Stuffs:
- Han Solo Elite Blaster
- Han SOlo MR Blueprints
- Leia Blaster
- Stormtrooper Blaster
- Rebel Blaster

I'm also thinking of buying (comments?) :

- SS Vader Premium Format
- SS Boba Fett Premium Format

So, I'm really open to comments and suggestions. I think I'm circling around and not fully satisfied with my prototypes. Maybe one of you guys will surely have the perfect combination idea. So, any inputs will be gladly welcome.

Thx!

Fred

Re: My Vader Collection Project

I think it's a great idea to have Vader in the center of the shelf. As to whether to put him eye-level or not, depends on how you visually coordinate it so that regardless of whether it's eye-level or one rung lower, he still draws the eye's attention. Note that you can also tilt his head back so that when someone enters the room, he can be looking directly at the person - so that when you're standing directly in front of the shelf, you're looking more at his face than the crown of his head.

When I position Vader next to other helmets, I have to make sure he is taller than the others. Whether this is fabricating a stand or getting a taller display podium, I feel it important to characterize the importance and presence of the characters due to height.
