For the past month, I've been attempting to build a wolverine cowl using JCustom's foam design. [http://www.therpf.com/f24/jfcustoms-foam-files-148889/]
Today, I was on my 7th attempt. I'm using 3mm EVA foam from Silly Winks (found at Hobby Lobby). I am still not pleased with the outcome. The problems come with the eye and nose area. Its not bending around the nose properly and the eye holes are too small (which lends to the aggressive look but limits vision/functionality).
I am considering two options and wanted to see what you all thought. Option 1) Continue and make an 8th attempt focusing on better cuts/folds. Option 2) Modify the captain america helmet file, adding the trademark fins to the cowl, yet leaving larger openings around the eyes and no nose cover.
Option 1 is the more comic accurate but difficult. Option 2 seems like it would be easier and allow for more visibility and fitting the face, yet sacrificing the aggressive wolverine look.
What are your thoughts?
I'll try to get back and post some pictures of my latest attempt, so maybe you can point out where I'm going wrong. But either way, even with a perfect outcome (like Durkness's build: http://www.therpf.com/attachments/f...rogress-20130902_000314.jpg-226706d1378131744), I still feel the eyes would be difficult to actually see from.
