Need some help: Darth Vader ESB dome placement!?

Hey all you DV experts, I call for your expertise :)

I am in the process to redo my ESB DV, which I use for trooping.
In the following pics, I attached an ANH dome to a DarthUgly ESB faceplate. The widows peak will be modified in the near future, but I am having a hard time to find the correct dome placement. :( Already tried google fu and the serach-function, but it seems like the setup is heavily influenced by the mask/ dome you´re using...so I can´t transfer the input I found 1:1 to my setup

On to the pics:

Do you think -once i modified the peak/ brow on the dome- this could pass as an ESB DV?
Want to be sure about the placement before I fix the mounting ring properly for an upcoming charity event at the end of may.

Many thanks in advance!

Markus

Actually, the proportions are not too bad. The VM02 dome and Darth Ugly ANH dome share a similar ancestry.

But do standardize on 6 foot distance photography, as it's hard to assess the dome positioning if you get too close. Also, try to stand on a stool or something so that the helmet is eye-level with the camera as opposed to looking up iconically. There's too much perspective distortion but it looks like you're on the right track so far.

If you're pursuing accuracy, an ANH dome is not made by simply cutting off the widow's peak. You'd have to sculpt out the mid strip as well.

Hey Mac

Thanks for your reply.
Will take some better pics asap.

I am aware that the mid strip is different on the ESB dome, but I don´t want to mess it up too much.
THIS will just be my costuming setup!

My display setup features a JB ESB helmet (so I´ve been told, HEAVY AS HELL), along with exactly the same chest armor that GINO used on his build(s). It is not painted yet, but I plan to have it done along with a few other DV related parts in the near future :)

Hi Markus,

well to be really honest I never understood why they got rid of that so-called widows peak in the first place for ESB ... it looks so much more menacing with it there ... and more natural ;)

There are a number of good threads regarding dome positioning on the prop den, some of which were authored by Mac, that you may want to check out.
