I think my next project I want to start after I finish with Willie from Goonies is a Dr. Decker mask from Nightbreed. My question is this. Was the original cloth or a latex mask? I can't tell on screen grabs but the nose really looks sculpted but the rest doesn't. If anyone has any info it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Nightbreed portrait book, let me look and see if there's a Decker entry in it. If so, happy to scan such for you.

I worked a Haunt that had a fairly screen-accurate Dr. Decker, down to the knife. I'll see if I can get hold of the performer to see if he will loan me some photos.

My apologies, but there are no photos of the Dr. Decker mask my friend Allen Hopps made, but here are his instructions:
It was scrim with button eyes and a zipper mouth, I made them all the time for scarecrow costumes.
The Scrim was put over a headform and Fabric stiffy was put on the scrim, when that dried the mask had the eyes sewn on and then the zipper was sewn into the inside of the mask. Then they cut the material out in front of the zipper so it shows.
The mask gets tied around the neck to make it form fitting

The actual mask in the film was made from foam latex.
I've been attempting a costume for this year and found this out in my search.

Im not sure if this thread is still active but I managed to get in contact with the prop master guy who actually made the mask.. the real one...

I was trying to make a decker mask myself and he explained there were two ..one was foam latex...this is the one most used for the film however they did experiment with burlap.

I eneded up making one with burlap and loads of "tacky glue" Ill put some pics up of mine later..
