Need Recommendations on Mold Making

This post is a bit off topic but hopefully you guys can help. I have a 3 clocks from a 1967 Jeepster Commando two of which I intend on installing into my Jeepsters. One of the clocks does not work but it has the correct base and I need another base for the second clock for my dad's Jeespter so I will need to mold the base. I have not been able to find any additional bases for these clocks and consider myself lucky to have found the 3 clocks I have. I have only seen 5 of the clocks in my 37 years so they are a very rare option. I need a good mold material that is reasonably priced and fairly easy to use. I would love to cast the bases in metal but since my resources are limited I am thinking resin may be the best option. Who makes the best mold making and casting materials?

Here is a picture of the clock. The base is removable from the clock with the screws on each side. The base is solid with no undercuts that I can see so I am hoping that it should be easy enough to mold and cast.

Thanks for your help

Hi m8

A picture would be good, just to see the detail level, but the easiest way for you if you want to use metal, is use jewellery grade pewter. This is heavier than aluminium, but can be melted over a cooking stove, (its best to be outside in a sheltered area though,) where aluminium needs to be much hotter, and use a RTV silicon meant for white metal casting. Jewellery grade pewter can be polished to a chrome like finish, and being lead free is perfectly safe.hope that helps.
