Need Help: How to Spray Paint on Foam

Hi,
We are having a convention this weekend and I need to have my Iron Man mk iv finished by then... I have the foam build completed, but I have some questions regarding how to paint it. I have read quite a few articles on here and watched some youtube videos, but I am still a little unsure about this...

I plan on mixing white school glue and water and apply about 4-5 layers of that onto my foam. Then I need to spray paint it, right?

I saw someone use cherry red Krylon spray paint and it looked pretty good for the red iron man look. What is a good recommendation for a gold-like color spray paint that I can get at Wal-Mart, per se?

How do I make the suit look metallic? Do I spray over the red and gold with a shiny silver spray paint?

What kind of sealant should I spray over my suit once I spray my colors onto it?

Thanks!!

You can buy metalic spray paints, usually they are available at walmart too. For my foam build I am sealing and priming using latex house paint, works well, check my build thread, in my signiture below.
If you have smooth coats of however you are sealing the foam and then use a metalic spray paint should work well

So, instead of buying Krylon Cherry Red spray paint, I instead buy a metallic red spray paint? Or can I buy the red spray paint and then spray a metallic layer on top of it to give it a metallic look?

Ok at Walmart there is this stuff called mod podge. It's basically the glue mixture u were talking about but this stuff is made for foam it will be in the art section. 1 or 2 coats will fill in cracks and holes. Also it helps with the foam not to suck up the paint. Here is a link to my halo build, take a look at the helmets. I spray painted them then detail painted them. The per-detail paint job might be what ur looking for, it's not a metallic just a color I liked.http://www.therpf.com/f24/my-very-slow-halo-wip-lol-kinda-179146/

Umm... I dunno. When I look at other peoples build threads, I think I read about them using Cherry Red by itself and looks metallic to me, I think a metallic layer over the surface would block the color beneath

I agree I never used a metallic layer like that which is y I told him to look at my tread cuz I think that's the look he is looking for. What I have noticed is when u don't seal foam before painting it, it sucks up the paint and u don't get that glossy finish

I made the piece in foam, added 3 coats of PVA glue (with water), added a coat of primer, 2 layers of spray paint (from Halfords) then added 2 coats of Clear Lacquer and its got a nice shine to it and i'm happy with the results:

Very cool, thanks for all the help :)

Any suggestions at a cheap gold color I could get at Walmart?

Go and browse your local walmart, they may differ slightly in selection from store to store

Okay, I just got done buying the spray paint. I got Dual Cherry Red Primer+Spray Paint by Krylon and Metallic Gold and Metallic Silver both by Rustoleum.
That being said, is it okay to put on my 3-5 layers of watered down pva glue and then spray on the 'Dual Cherry Red Primer+Spray Paint'? Or do I still need to put on a coat of just plain old primer even before spraying that red onto it?

Even if you don't know for sure, I'd love to hear your opinions. Thanks!!
