Need help finding styrene tubing

Hello fellow members.

Awhile ago I placed an order at a local hobby shop for a 5/8" outside diameter with 1/2" inside diameter styrene tube (I want to fit a 1/2" o.d. tube inside the 5/8").

Today I found out (after 3 weeks) that Plastruct has discontinued this product.

I'm kind of disappointed and was wondering if anyone out there had a scrap piece they'd be willing to part with (I'm based in Ontario, Canada). I don't need a big piece... 4" at the most.

Even if someone could suggest something I could use in place of a styrene tube that would be great.

Thanks for your help.

Have you looked at Evergreen's site? They might have an equivalent.

I think the highest Evergreen goes is 1/2 OD. I have some PVC that's 5/8" OD, but I think the walls are too thick to come out to 1/2" OD. I'll have to go check.

Also, have you checked all of Plastruct's materials? It might be available in a different plastic.

Thanks for your responses.

Unfortunately Flintlock is right, the highest diameter Evergreen makes is 1/2" OD.

Its very strange, the Plastruct 2009 retail price list has 5/8" styrene tube listed. However the UPC code, package quantity and package retail price is N/A? I emailed the company to see if the tubing I'm looking for comes in a different plastic.

Is 5/8" PVC tubing easy to get a hold of (Home Depot), would it be possible to drill the center to 1/2"?

The PVC you need can be found at Home Depot. It is correct ID and OD. It is 1/2" CPI "CPVC Hot & Cold Blue Line". Take a ruler along to double check you get the right tube.

I'm going to try to get out to Home Depot tomorrow and see if I can find the PVC tubing.

If you're at your local shop Robn1 please see if they carry the 5/8" styrene tube.

Thanks for your help.

Got out to the Home Depot today. I picked up some CPVC tubing (a lot more than I needed :lol). It should do the trick.

Thanks for the tip Flintlock.:thumbsup
