NECA Original Freddy Glove in NOV

How many casualties?

Got to the Club for the costume contest, while walking across the parking lot I realized I had forgot the hat so I reached for my car keys in my pocket and....

yeah, ouchy. Won the contest though, trip for 2 to Club Med! Had to wear long shorts so the bandages didnt show to much.

I was afraid it would end up being innacurate, based on what NECA did with the remake glove.
The packaging and overall presentation is very nice. For those who absolutely have to own a licensed prop replica, you are getting a real deal here.
But the sticklers for accuracy are also in a good position to choose from a number of well documented and experienced glove makers who can hand-craft a replica that is just as good as the real one.
But for some, a fancy box and display stand will sell a sub-par product.

Ok, we get it, people can stop bashing this item. The thread is for people interested in seeing and talking about the NECA release. We all know that there are more accurate replicas but as a casual fan of the movie, I just don't care.

Well said, sir. :thumbsup
I'm very much looking forward to this and I love it!

Just saw a review of the glove on youtube. While the review was not the best quality (and the guy seemed kind of ignorant) the glove appears to have some problems.

In addition to the purists' gripes on here, it looks like the glove has a terrible range of movement. It also looks like this glove is even bigger than the remake glove which was huge.

I guess I'll just be sticking with my crappy (but still fun) neca remake glove.

Edit: video for reference

Not me, watched some early reviews and it turned me off. It appears NECA has some kind of giant in their employ whose hand they use to size their gloves with.

Same here. My enthusiasm is tempered, to say the least. A "one size fits all" approach means HUGE in this case (same with the remake-glove though, I got that one).

As some of you will know I collect noes stuff and have done for many years
I have a pretty good glove collection and have owned gloves from a lot of the makers and have seen them all so have a pretty good knowledge about them

I just got the Neca glove today and here's a quick break down on it

packaging
very bad, Why go through the details of the glove to make it pt one accurate and then not have a single image referencing the first film on the box ??? wes cravens new nightmare freddy wearing a Vs glove please Neca ??? sack the packaging design team they are letting you down on this and a lot of your other items

construction
ok the glove is spot welded together as it is made of some sort of tin type steel and treated to look like copper and brass and stainless steel. that said it's a mass produced glove and keeping their costs down I can understand them doing this again, the same as they did with the remake glove. It doesn't look as it should but and one wanting to tart it up a little with the finihing can do so very easily

the finger tip sections dont match the knuckle section too well in colour because of the amount of spot welding that has gone into them, mine seem to be more rusted and brown because of this than the copper colouring on the lower finger section

blades are not shinney and can bend fairly easy

leather glove is not the best quality as with most replica licenced gloves but they have taken note and made it a lot better than before by using a better quality leather and it doesn't fit like your wearing it on the wrong hand like in the past so not too bad their , again you can weather thie up easily if you want it more accurate

all in all they have done their home work on the details of the glove but let it down with the scale, it's just too big

a few easy changes will help the glove
1= replace the leather glove to something better
2= replace the backplate with real brass and reduce the size by around 20%
3= cut down the legth of the knuckle sections by a few ml and even more on the 3rd finger as that is the problem one ( must be an issue with them all on the finger ring being too far up the tip ) punch in a new hole and re attach them to the new back plate

then you'll have a decent enough glove for £45 plus a little extra for the improvements

I do prefer fan made gloves by far dont get me wrong and theirs people out their making them theat you would swear where straight off the set they nailed the accuracy that well but that comes with a cost
So if your not a die hard freddy fan and just want to add a glove to the collection I honestly think it's worth getting

if your a sucker for accuracy and the correct metals and all then avoid it

I will say though that I honestly think they have done their home work with this glove adding the little details that some fans dont put in or will charge you a lot more for doing so and I honestly think they have spy's on the forums like the springwood slasher where the main bunch of glove makers go and discuss their work and they have simply joined those forums took what they needed and applied them to the licenced product

If I where a general fan and could take it or leave it I'd give it a respectible 7 1/2 out of 10

If I judged it as a die hard fan I'd give it 4 1/2 out of 10

The one big thing I dont understand with the product is how customs over the years have seized gloves and destroyed them because they have more the 1 blade attached and regard them as leather weapons and also class them as a knuckle duster as it's a meatal glove and still people have issues with customs seizing and destroying their fan made replica gloves they have paid hundreds for yet here's a company that make toys selling a mass produced metal bladded glove most probably world wide and I put my money on it that not one will be questioned by customs although it's exactly the same thing

hope that helps :)

Anyone able to give me the size of the glove in inches while on the stand? I need to order one but also need a shadowbox display and need to make sure I know the size. Thanks

I've handled one of these NECA Freddy gloves, and was not at all impresseed. In my opinion, they're garbage. They're flimsy, they feel cheaply made, there's all kinds of inaccuracies, and they don't really look all that great in person. Honestly, I don't think they're worth the price they're going for.

For any Freddy fan looking for a worthy glove, I'd suggest contacting Anders Eriksen. A friend of mine recently purchased one, and the craftsmanship is awesome. Eriksen offers far superior, completely accurate, solidly built gloves. He also offers different models of the gloves, from parts I through IV. They're considerably more expensive (on average 250 bucks), but totally worth it.

Here's a few shots of the "Diner Glove" from Part IV:

i have the neca glove. i replaced the safety pin with velcro. and broke all the finger tip ringlets off and had a guy resolder them half inch lower and tighter. but for the price of the glove i wish i would have seen razor gloves web site ahead of time. for almost the same price you can get a hand made glove to your specifications.
