Neca Gold lancer repaint

Well its time for my next project. In the Uk we got stuck with an extremly lame paint job on the gears of war lancer. The USA gets a nice looking replica including blood splatter, we get it sprayed in gold.
Starting today im gonna give it a repaint and hopefully make it look better. First job is to spray it all in black. Once im happy with that i'll make a start on the detail.
Havent done anything like this since my tennage years but im pretty confident i can make it look more realistic.

So, first base coat has been applied. It already looks much better just in black.
Im planning to do a second coat today, just to go over any bits i missed.
Hopefully by the weekend i'll be able to start getting some detail painted.
At the moment im unsure whether to go for a nice clean paint job or add weathering affects. I'll see how it goes.

Black is definitely better than gold. Just out of interest, how are you displaying yours? Mine is just sat on the shelf at the moment. I'd like to do something more though. Either somehow put it on a wall or make some sort of base for it. Im not too sure how to go about either of these though.

After spending a few hours on it over the weekend its starting to look much better.
Ive still got a few parts to paint gun metal and what ive done so far will probably need going over again with a second coat.
Ive got some other metallics im going to use then so the panels dont look all the same.
Its gonna take longer then i thought. Another 3-4 weekends untill i'll probably be happy with it.

Got some more done on it. Its starting to come along nicely now. In the week im going to start tidying it up a bit. up close you can see brush marks so im going to try and reduce these. i've also manged to get paint on black bits that i didnt mean to so i'll have to redo some of the black as well.

Ok, pretty much completed this for now. May go back to it at somepoint but for now im happy. It looks so much better than the gold.
