NECA 2009 $20 Jason Mask - Review

huh, my setter base was too wide to fit into the inset holes they have for the snaps so they werent held flush against the inside, i had to basically sit it on the corner of a chari and hammer away.

what would be the best way to strip the paint off it? acetone? I'm afraid the that acetone might ruin the mask. Sanding? let me know.

any idea what is the accurate way for the two straps to connect in the back? the mask came with a small grommet there holding them together, but i have no reference for that spot.

I could've sworn there was a buckle of some sort on the back (scene from the end of the movie), but I could be wrong. Guess it's time to see the movie again.

If you are looking for a copy of the original hockey mask (part 3), Frightstuff.com has blanks pulled from the original buck made by the original propmaker. They are only $55.00.

I believe you can use a part 3 blank for every film up part 9.

it's supposed to be a jason 2009 version though, right? so it would make sense that it wouldn't work for the older style.

Jaakub asked if it was any good for a 3 or 4 with a repaint....was just telling that it is not.

UPDATE:

I'll know for sure by Wednesday, but I should have 3 on hold for me at the TRU 45 mins. from my house. I only want one, so the other two are up for grabs for my fellow RPFers. PM me if interested.

please discuss locating or obtaining one of these masks in the junkyard thread.

back to the prop, anyone have anyinfo yet about the conenction in the back of the straps?

I picked one of these up over the weekend at our local TRU store. Last or maybe only one they had on the shelf. It really is a nice prop for the money. But as someone else said, I’m not sure how they can justify the shadow box adding $130 to the overall value. Maybe the box is really only $10 and it’s the plaque that’s driving the price.. lol Anyway, if the shadow box would have been the only option I’m sure I would have passed this one by. All and all though, a very nice companion piece for my Rubies Freddy Glove. Many thanks Kylash327 for the tip on this.. :thumbsup

im holding off doing my new straps until i know if they need to be logn enough for a bucle or something on the back, anyone have any info on that area?

Anyone have a run down of the strap configuration per movie? i.e. elastic vs. leather and type of fasteners? I want to order some stuff from frightstuff and won't to make them completely screen accurate. Thanks.

WHY Couldnt they do this for V FOR VENDETTA? Instead they sold 200 masks, that sell for over a grand on ebay!:angry

Part 3-4 and the Remake were black elastic straps (I think Part 5 was a wel). Part 6-8, X, Vs and JGTH were leather - each were different and each attached to the mask differently. Accurate straps for each mask type can be seen here:

Use the item number off the website and they can see what stores in your area have them.

The web page itself says, "This item does not participate in the check store inventory feature. Please visit your local store to determine availability".

Why strip it...? Keep it simple - just lightly sand it or just prime right over the original factory paint.

I know that the website doesn't do check inventory. What I did and meant by my post was to call your local TRU. Give them the 6 digit number from the web page and they can look in their system to see if they have it in stock. If they don't then, what they did for me was tell me the closest store that was showing them in stock and gave me their phone number so I could call and make sure before I went over. That is how I did it.
