NECA 1:4 Scale PREDATOR Figure

Got my open mouth version at Toys R Us today! Wasn't even looking for it either, just happened upon them. First I was all . Then was all . After that I was like . Now I'm all B). They only had three, one of each version. $69.99 each. This beast is huge, massive, BIG even! A real monster. At long last my 18" original Alien has something to fight! Words don't do justice for how g*ddamn awesome this thing is. Dear Diary, today was a good day.

Picked up all three Preds at my local TRU last weekend, after which I cancelled my BBTS order. If you factor in shipping on the $200 package deal BBTS had, I actually saved at least $10 :). In any case...

Just went to Michael's and PETCO today. Got a ton of fake ferns and other plants for my custom diorama as well as a real reptile log that I'll have sprayed with lacquer. Couldn't find any fake moss -- all the moss the stores had was real -- but hopefully I can find some at Craft Warehouse. If not, it's gotta be done online.

I'm planning to have a wooden base with drilled circular holes. The idea is to cut the bottoms of the plastic stems off the fake ferns (so they're not as long) and then secure them in each hole. Next step is to add a custom rod to have the figure lean on. Finally, coat the bottom of the base with some fake moss or grounding, then sprinkle some of the smaller fake leaves and whatnot in random patches, to make it look less flat. Top it off with the big lacquered log as a prop, and presto.

This weekend's going to be awesome. On a somewhat-related note, I'll upload my video review sometime tomorrow. For now, here are a few of the pics you'll see in the review. These I took last weekend, so some are before my little netting tear and some are after (the tear is located at the bottom-left of the torso in the last pic, next to the abs).

Amazing figure. He also has a piece of torn netting on the back of his left bicep. It was pretty tough to catch, but I plan to fix both spots with a veeeeeery small droplet of thin CA super glue, which will also bond the netting to his skin there. Not a big issue.
As far as the visor gap goes, I'm quite happy with the way mine came. The bio helmet still screams P1 at me, so...

Awesome pics Blade3327!! Would you be able to post a profile view of the laser shroud side? It would help me greatly on my P1 Stung project for Art :)
