Hey Guys,

2 things; first, if anyone has the round twonsend glasses, they're also the same glasses used in the transformers movie. They're the glasses that contain the coordinates of the all spark.

Second, does anyone know the dimension of the loupe lenses? What is the diameter of the lens itslef? And does anyone have a pair of the harborfrieght loupes and have a specific measurement of the lenses? I'm considering just geting some plastic optical filters, but I need to know the correct diameter before I order them.

I don't know if they're identical to the Harbor Freight lenses, but my eBay loupes have 25mm lenses. I'm just going to go w/ Blufives 7.00 colored lenses when I get a couple payments in.

It's per lens. He's popped in a couple times in the thread here, I don't know if he's looking for a big group thing, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind the extra money. He's a professional optician apparently, and these, while plastic, would be high end optical quality. :thumbsup

Just a small update.

Tinting is not going as well as planned. I think it has to do with the convex shape of the lens. I've tried tinting using tinted Future wax as well as clear acrylic paint (tamiya). Once I spray, it either runs to the center or out to the edges (depending on which way I lay it down to dry).

So, does anybody have any suggestions?

Is that the one where you melt down the beads or the spray can color one? I wonder, if it's the melting beads deal, can you use the loupe frame, as the frame (I know it's an oddly worded question, but I couldn't think of another way :lol)?

just a little update (if there's anyone but me working on these things). I finally received my loupes from harbor freight (man, are they slow) and just ordered the colored lenses from anchoroptics.com

All I need to do now is to pick up a small brass sleeve, drill a hole in the frames and cut new lenses from plexi (for the base glasses). You'll need a brass sleeve because once you remove the clip-on part of the loupes, you lose all tension and the loupes just flop around. But a simple piece of tubing will rectify that situation.

I got 2 of the 3 lenses from anchoroptics (they billed me for 3 , but never sent the red. they say they're looking into it). The lenses are about .5mm too large, so a minute of sanding took care of that problem.

I got the brass tube from micromark (you'll need 3/32 tubing to make it work). I just have to drill a hole in the frames (and still make those blasted lenses for the base glasses).

I wish I could get around to working on mine. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Let us know of any progress. Once you sanded, were you able to perfectly fit the lenses into the loupes, or have you not tried it yet?

I got the HF set. While they're a decent set (it's hard to mess up a set of loupes), HF took a month to ship them - even though they were in stock.

Spend the extra 2 bucks and get them from someplace that will ship them in your lifetime.

I just finished my loupes. Received my colored lenses from Anchoroptics and they fit just fine in the HF loupes. I am now starting on bending my Townsand glasses to the correct shape. Pictures coming shortly.

Did everyone just reshape some clear plexi to fit the lenses?

I'm going to spend a bit more money and have lens made by an optician. I think they'll look better, plus, making them doesn't appeal to me at all.
