Well, the "tin Type baby photo" can not be found online :(
Ross MacDonald told me, that he found this photo, in a junke store :(
He did not make a copy of it :(

As i am not able to find the original pic of the "baby" online (thanks for the add. info. Vossart) i worked on my blury screenshots. And here is how it turned out. Not the best,
but for the moment good enough (for me)

And here is what i did:

1) print out the photoshoped pic on a paper of your choice. For the moment i used
Standard glossy paper for a laserprinter, which is pretty inaccurate, but had nothing better :(

This is also the top layer.

2) print out the the Text.... (i used 90gr, ivory paper, preaged with coffee)

As far as i can ready it is stating
asdbdsdfsfh STREET
DENVER, CO.

this is the middle layer.

3) cut out a light-ivory colored light carton for the back

So you have something like this (sorry for the bad pic taken with the cell phone)

(on the left is a simple print out / middle one not aged at the time pic captured)

Put them together and age the edges ;)

Working already on an other insert ;) The "Department of Air Force Letter".
But as engl. isn't my mother language i would need some help.

Here is what i have so far:
Pic canceled. Final version in first post, side 4!

Any chance to complete the text?
Forget about the letter head itself. This is not final for sure. It is only to "get the idea" ;)
Was tough to get the text as shown. But as only a view words missing, i think we can finalize it, don't we ?

Hi Murdoc,

How about "poses no risk" for the first set of missing words.


You only show 3 Xs after Lt. Col Kerner but is it possible there are four letters like USAF maybe?

many thanks for your feedback.
Changed the first set oof missing words according to your entry.
The 3 x after Col. Kerner replaced by DAF (Deparment Air Force) as it seems to be
3 letters only. Think it doesn't matter if DAF or USAF ;)

Here is the actual version. Letter head changed already to (my) final version. It is
mix of the actual Air Force base Las Vegas and some invented stuff (post office)

Pic canceled. Final version in first post, side 4

Font changed to a typewriter.

The "Top Secret stamp" is not final ;)

I think most easiest way would be to MERGE those 2 threats, as they depend
on the same topic.

@TAZ..... great, i think you've nailed it :) Will definitely finish the letter with that version. Soon we should have another Original insert in hands ;)

For sure Tom ;) Here it is...

File deleted, higher res. see below :)

In the red frame beside "Subject" there is handwritten xx (i will write SB for "Subject") and "Area 51". So in total "SB Area 51". As well the finished letter is stamped with the "scroll seal". I will do this in real, to get it a litte bit more realistic. As well i will sign
it by hand.

Hope you are happy with this inserts. If somebody have a more clear "Department of Defense" logo i would be happy to change this on the letterhead. Or feel free to change by your own ;)

Mmm, I don'tg seem to be able to download it on high-res... Is it possible that photobucket resizes it when you upload it? I got an image that's 723 x 1023 pixels. If I print this at 300 dpi, I got an image that's about 2.5 x 3.5 inch. Not very big... ;-)

How about this for the logo: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/department-of-defense-0 ? I could change it in illustrator to have only the blue colors. But it's already late now, over here. I'm going to sleep ;).

Tried to vectorize the logo i have with vectormagic already. Unfortunately my "base" isn't good enough to get a decent "automatic" result :(
The Logo in your link is definitely the same as i have. So if you can get this as a vector file that would be cool ;)
