first off, i'm glad there are no wars between mst3k, cinematic titanic and rifftrax and that they all get along and support one another.

the info -
mike nelson will not be back. he stated himself he was just a hired gun and wants to focus on rifftrax.

there will apparently be a new host, a new mad, and new bot voices for crow and servo. So technically this will be MST3K 3.0, with bobo, pearl, and brain guy era being 2.0 and joel, dr.forrester and tv's frank being 1.0

- all of the old cast will be given an invite to come back if they pass the goal for possible cameo's to help the new cast move along into their own thing.

personally, so long as the writing is good (rifftrax is occasionally spotty, and I never saw cinematic titanic since I started out with Mike, Kevin and Bill, so i'm more attached to them)....i'm sure we'll get used to the new cast in time.

I went with the voice mail option in the campaign. I mostly wanted that and the signed poster. If I was rich, I would have gone for the director option ;o)

I think TV's Frank would be 1.1 since he was a replacement for Dr Erhardt.

true. forgot about larry.

what's everyone's opinion of jonah ray?

I'm NOT a big nerdist fan. something about the guy rings as phoney to me for some reason. I've listened to a few of his podcasts and he seems to make it more about him than he does his guests. when you have rick moranis there of all people, no one cares what YOUR thoughts are on his movies ;o).

hopefully this jonah guy is nothing like nerdist and actually kind of likeable.

I had never heard of him before this announcement, so I have no strong feeling one way or the other. To paraphrase a comment from elsewhere, I'd also never heard of Joel or Mike before they hosted MST and I'm fine with whatever this third guy I've never heard of will bring to the part.

they passed the $2million mark. I noticed it kind of slowed down a little once more details came out.

Guess I'm out $400's in december, but it'll be worth it :)

I've never listened to Jonah-only Nerdist podcasts, just the ones where he is tacked on to a Hardwick one. In those contexts, I don't find he really adds anything, although it isn't really because of him, but because there are too many voices taking time away from the guest. Still, one would think if he was all that, I'd have found his contributions valuable...

that doesn't bode well. but I trust joel to know what is right for mst3k...so i'm still going to be hopeful about this reboot.

for me, one reason I don't like people associated with nerdist is because they seem to make it all about them. at least that's the vibe I got from the few podcasts I wanted to check out. although they wheren't that great because there was no real good back and forth rapport with the guest.

On the whole they have good back and forth, but yeah, Hardwick talks way too much.

Felica Day is the next mad.

is she also associated with nerdist? ugh. still, I'll give it all a chance. it's MST3K. how bad can it be? although I would have preferred they go with unknowns rather than famous or 'internet famous' people.

I love Felica Day. The world needs more Felica Day.

I cannot say it any better other than I hope to god they put her in the theater at least some of the time. I don't know about anyone else here, but when Mary Jo Pehl did the opening bit for "Quest of the Delta Knights" she was awesome.

Yeah. I've been ready for a female host since Delta Knights. Especially now that Servo's voice is so similar to the (male) host's, having good vocal seperation in the theater is important. A woman would really help there. Plus it's be exciting to see what kind of dynamic we could get between her and the bots.

Turkey Day Marathon is on!

First Episode: Outlaw of Gor
- Fun episode! Probably the most memorable part of this episode is how many times the hero's name, Cabot, is uttered in the first quarter portion of the film. Also, it's a film where you can tell they planned on using special effects for backgrounds, magic tricks and what not... but suddenly didn't have the money to do it. You're going to love how obvious it is.

My favorite episode of all MST3K episodes. Bar none.
