Hey Gang,

Having just finished my 2 Farnsworth props, I thought I'd take some time to show off my Warehouse 13 collection. It isn't large, but I think I've got some cool stuff.

I'll start with a group shot. You can see here, my 2 Farnsworths, my Farnsworth stand, my custom Mini-Tesla, and my safety goggles:

Now I'll go in to each prop one at a time.

Farnsworth #1: This is my electronic version with black screen. The red light blinks, and it also makes the ringing, pick-up, and hang-up sounds.

Farnsworth #2: This version has no electronics and a grey screen. This version features custom internal components and was made to look like a broken unit. If you look closely, you will see it has a broken "camera lens".

Finally, here is my Custom Mini-Tesla. Seems like all new agents get one of these custom-made by Claudia, so here's mine. I also built a cusom stand for it.

Update 10/23/2012:

I just finished up this little guy. I wanted to build a tracking device attachment as seen in Season 2 and most recently in the season 4 finale. I know it isn't 100% accurate, but it cost me less than $5 to throw together! I had most of the parts in my parts-bin. ;)

Hope you like!

Looks great, may i ask where you found the brass corners on your stand? It one of the things holding me up on mine. I was going to hand make them but if they can be purchased that would be better.

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

Sorry - I had to make them myself from brass sheet!

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

Nicely done! The custom Tesla is especially cool. What paint did you use for the Wheatley boxes?

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

I used "Leather Brown" for the brown, but it was a time-consuming multi-stage process:
1. I sprayed the entire box with the brown, then
2. I dabbed it with "Renaissance Brown" metallic glaze
3. I dabbed thinned black acrylic paint
4. I washed the entire thing with "Dark Walnut" airbrush paint
5. I lightly sprayed the whole thing again with the Leather Brown
6. I sprayed it with Krylon "Matte Finish"
7. When it was all dry, I went over it with fine steel wool
8. I polished it with Meguire's Ultimate Compound (a cutting polish)

The process took 4 days to complete...ugh!

Those Farnsworth pieces are amazing. I love the internals on #2!

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

that looks outstanding, man!!!

Im going to have to pick your brain on a few things -

I went ahead and tested out the Aliminum Black on the back of my farnsowrth plate and while it does quickly darken the brass i noticed that the brass still has that shiny metallic sheen...Light reflects off of it like crazy even though it's darkend.
I noticed on your Farnsworth it looks as though the brass is very dull and matte. Was that a natural result of the Brass Black or was it something else you did to it afterwards?
I may have to pick up some brass black if it does indeed dull the brass.

Next queston - For your pushbutton, the base (which is under the plate) looks different than the Switchcraft I have. did you customize it or is it a different brand of pushbutton?

How are you holding your turn knobs in place?
I in the process of doing a vintage guts version of the Farnsworth, but cant decide if I want a standard electronics knob stem holding the knobs in place to the inside of the Farnsworth or just some random stem holding it to the plate.

How did you attach the monitor lens to the inside of the farnsowrth? Glue?

Once again, great work!

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

Thanks!

I took care not to show the glare in my photos. The brass still has a slightly reflective quality. If you want an overall duller finish, you could use a matte finish spray like Krylon makes. I almost did that, but decided against it at the last second (literally the can was in my hand). The spray would also protect the plate from any further "natural" weathering. I may yet do it sometime down the road...

I got my switchcraft buttons from a B&K 400 CRT. I did modify the one in my "guts" version to sit on the perf board at the right height, but the one I'm using in my electronic Farnsworth is unmodified.

For the "guts" Farnsworth, I frankensteined together stems for the center and fender knobs. I made them from other switches that I bought and couldn't use. I basically just took the parts of the switched that the knobs attached to and chopped the rest of the parts off to save space. They both turn. I'll post a pic in a bit.

The black lense is held to the back of the faceplate with black duct tape, while the grey lense is attached to the "guts" from behind.

Hope I answered all of your questions!

Thanks for the comments everyone! :)

The brass still has a slightly reflective quality.

Welp, "slightly reflective" seems to be a lot better than the finish on my surface. I cant even take a photo without light totally glaring off of it, regardless of the angle. Im guessing the brass black does dull it a bit.

Cool. Im really trying to gather as much info on which method may be thge best for what Im looking for.

Hope I answered all of your questions!

Yup, thanks!

Here are some pics as promised. I put some labels in the first image, but I think the second one is pretty self-explanitory :)

Re: My Warehouse 13 Prop Collection (PIC HEAVY)

You've done an excellent job, especially on the Farnsworth with guts! :D
