My very first Van Halen Frankenstrat project - WIP

Thanks for the tip, man! Yep, that wood needs a little more distressed look! :)

Here are a couple of shots. Nothing much but I worked on the weathering and small details a little more. I finally received the pick guard. Was so excited that forgot to take pics and took the guitar straight to my guitar tech! :lol When I get it back, probably by tomorrow (crossing fingers!), I'll get back to the small details and hopefully make it look more like the original... Second thought, who the hell am I kidding? I'll start playing it like crazy and finally test that damn EVH pickup!!!

Great job!!!
I have seen this guitar copied a bunch of times but have never seen it done this well with all of the weathering. I practically have the nicks and gouges on that thing memorized from a poster I used to have hanging in my room. You really nailed it.

Mojo: are you referring to the pot? 500k's are brighter and doesn't cut off as much treble (according to the all mighty internet :lol)
 
Fantastic job! I've toiled with this decision many times...but still haven't committed. With your pics though....it's very tough not too now!

Hey Chewie! Well, I finally took the plunge and decided to go for it, after many years! I still watch your build thread at halen.com. Very inspiring!!!

That's the pickup I got! Man, that guitar sounds awesome!!! Love it! I got the regular version, not the weathered/signed one, tho. I can't wait for the guitar to come back from the guitar tech! It was supposed to be ready by last Wedensday :\

I appreciate your offer to help! Those pics you posted are more than enough...amazing!! I'm a guitar nut also, I've got a purple Wolfgang and a blue Peavey HP Special (the model after the Wolfgang).
 
I absolutely love that guitar... even if it's purple... with Harley logos... and a flag. :lol

I was considering selling my Jackson Kelley (Performer) and an Ibanez RG something and getting one of those Wolfgang Special! They are a beauty!

Great news, I picked up my guitar today. No, scratch that... awesome frickin' news! I can't believe how much that EVH pickup ROCKS!!! It's so easy to pull harmonics now!!! ALL OF THEM! tapping, artificial... even harmonics that I never even knew existed! I was having so much hard time with my other half step down tuned guitar (Jackson Kelley Performer... I'm not lovin' it that much now). The Gotoh Floyd kicks serious ass, too! I used and abused the hell out of it and it always came back in tune!

I can't stress enough how much that EVH pickup rocks!!!!!!! The sound is AMAZING!!!!
