My trip to Lucasfilm, as C-3PO

Thank you very much guys. You're right, this was a surreal and unbelieveable experience. Moncal, your machined neck bolts and antenna were chromed and worn with pride. For the record, Julio Torres is an awesome guy - you couldn't find a nicer person to work with. Chris Lee, I'm looking forward to tooling around with your R2 at DragonCon. I'll be wearing 3po at C4 as well for those who've asked. One other detail I left out was that the folks at Lucasfilm told me, "Thank you so much for helping us out with this, we've heard nothing but great things about your appearance." They also told me, "This is the beginning of a great and mutually beneficial relationship."

woohoo.

:)

More video. In video 2 (it's squashed because I had to rotate it and couldn't stretch it back out) you'll see my entrance to the smaller of the 2 presentations. They had me enter at such a distance that I had to get to the stage as fast as possible while the voice track was playing. That's why I'm walking so strangely. Also, maneuvering thru the staggered tables in a hurry was a nightmare. if you look close, I very nearly clock a guy in the head with my elbow - luckily he ducked. Video 3 shows another clip of the same presentation where I'm standing between to large screens showing the game-play video. Video 4, another short clip.

You must be a Galaxies player as well. :p

Edit: Ooo, they are giving SWG the full court press again. Man, I only hope they get things right with this game. It breaks my heart the fun I had there. That said, excellent costume and the story is GREAT.

yeah, if you guys havent seen chris lees R2... it really is a thing of beauty, on par with tk409s 3p0 even. got to hang out with him at our convention here in knoxville TN, hes a real cool guy, see ya at DC, for some more good times.

thats going to be a great match...

and once again a well deserved congrats to you tk409, yeah, this aint the end.

Chris,
I don't know you but I'm very happy for you. Your 3PO is amazing, it looks like you did a phenomenal job preparing the surface for chroming.
What a great thread, great photo's, and a great story too. That's what makes this hobby so much fun.
I cannot get over the quality of that suit. I had one of the Disney suits in my shop a couple of years ago, we were pricing out re-furbishing it and re-chroming it, but they decided not to go with it. What a shame, a new, shiny 3PO looks simply amazing.
Congrat's,
Scott

Great job and congratulations Chris, the chromed 3PO looks incredible and what a treat that Lucasfilm had a hand in it. You'll be doing some great things I'm sure. I can't wait to see it in person at DC and C4, this experience couldn't have happened to a better protocol droid.

Chris,

I'm so happy for you. What an unbelieveable opportunity. You are like the uber costumer now (as if you weren't already right?) I can't wait to troop with you and the Golden one again. This time its chromed too. :eek

How do you improve upon perfection? Chrome it I guess. :lol

Chris, I can't say enough dude. Freaking awesome. I look forward to hanging out at Dragon Con.

Chris,
i'm speechless. I personally would not be surprised if you were called upon to do more appearances as 3po. I mean if AD wasn't able to make it to do certain 3po related project you are their 2nd choice.
Theres definitely tremors in the force~~~~~~~~good one that is;-)
