My TDK Joker costume build up *Updated 10-27-08*

I have been working on this costume since about April and even wore a unfinished version to comic con. I have been upgrading and rebuilding certain pieces of the costume to make them more accurate. Everything I have is custom made, other than the socks a tie. Im still trying to get my hands on the Turnbull & Asser tie and I preordered the tabio socks. The coat is still in the works, so no pics of that yet and I dont have any pics of the pants but I will get some later. So here... we... go...

I know the shirt pattern is slightly off, but it was printed before the high rez pics were released, and I dont want to have another shirt printed. That is all for now I will keep you guys updated as I go.

Actually I created the pattern myself with Adobe Illustrator a few months back.

It's amazing how much it looks like mine!:eek

I really need to learn how to sew. Aside from making sweet costumes like this, it would be a good skill to have around the house.

That's a very good on the costume. The fact that most of the key peices are hand made is extremely cool. :cool

You know you can still get on the waiting list for Turnbull and Asser? They'll being doing another run of ties around the end of september/early october. At least, thats what the lady that collected my info told me anyway.

How wide would you guys say that pocket chain is? I may be able to source it (and provid a link of coarse) depending on the width.

I would guess it's in the 10-11mm range... it's a flat curb chain, and I have not found a good match in gold anywhere.

Yeah I found that it was a curb chain last night. I did find a good match, however it was an out of stock titanium necklace.
Looking at the close up shots of the costume, I believe that it's actually brass. In one of the close ups it looks particularly dingy and nasty.
I'm still working on a source, I just wanted to see what everybody else though on the width. :cool

The tie is a dark gray color with gold diamonds.


And to GrenadeKing I did get on the waiting list for the real tie. Hopefully I can get it before Halloween

A question about the tie; did you contact Turnbull & Asser is the US or the UK? I sent an e-mail to the UK e-mail address and got no reply. I'm wondering if contacting the US site might be better.

I contacted them through the US site. The guy told me that they would be getting more in after August because the factory they get the material from in the UK is shut down for the month of August. So heres hoping

When I called the store in New York they said the ties should be back in around late September, early October.

I got the pants finished, so here are a couple pics. They are not that great, but you get the idea. I also found an under coat that matches the actual costume pretty well, just got to replace the liner first.

If you made the vest, do you have a pattern to offer. If not, I was wondering if you could custom make me one of your vests? I have asked before I know, but it seems like a can't find a decent movie vest anywhere.

Took some pics last night as my friend was working on his begins suit. Still working on the coat, I will get pics up as soon as its finished. Oh and still looking for good photos of the back of the coat if anyone has some.
