Never done this before, but got the bug this last halloween so here goes...

1. Bought 3 disneystore compass toys and took the whole thing apart

2. Began painting

3. Added the starfield on the lid

4. Printed off a replacement dial

5. Finished the pin stripes and made it look new-ish

5. I'm in the home stretch, I just need a few more things.... and then I have a beautiful prop and 2 extras.

Nice work, though I think a lot more folks are starting to look for this in wood.
Here's a look at one of the five dials I recently had machined.
It's for recreating the inner workings of the compass as seen in movies 2 and 3 of the Pirates trilogy.

Oi mate! Glad to see another familar face! :D

(It's hard to know who's who when user names are diffrent! :lol)

So, replaced the front plastic latches with metal ones and roughed up the paint and body to give it a weathered look. Now I am just waiting for the pull rings in the mail and viola.

Finally finished - the rest of my materials came in over the weekend and it was a long night of gluing, repainting and tying...
