Hey guys, and girls, I am one of the new guys in town.
Well I guess since I have started making a pred suit I might as well make my own WIP thread so here it be's.
So far I have searched through the numerous huntorials [which are all great!] and found one that I wanted to start with.
Using Vinmanmac's AVP Armor Templates.[Great tutorial!] I got some materials together and started on some foamie armor parts. I wanted to start with the waist area first.
On a personal note, I absolutely dislike the way the preds looked in AVP. I just thought it was way too much armor they wore. With my suit im gearing towards a P1 look, but not exactly the same. The model that I want to base it after precisely is the new predator character that has appeared on the screens for the new AvP3 game, with a few little tweaks here and there.
Pics:
The only armor I want to add to what you see in the pics is thigh armor and that's it. I think the P1 look was good because he didn't have much so much armor and it made him look sleeker, more deadlier, and more badass. So over the past few days I started with the belt buckle and thigh armor using Vinmanmac's huntorial. Below are pics from start to finish.
Phew! This all took about a days work. The armor pieces are a little shinier than the pics show, but I didn't want them high glossy in the first place. I used Krylon Fusion Hammered Silver for the base and Metallic Black for the weathering and Krylon Satin Acrylic Clear Finish to seal them in. I have them taped to a large camping foam roll [which will be used to do the backpack] and have them glued together and hopefully the glue dries to the shape of the roll! if not ill have to figure out a way to shape them to curve a little and stay curved. The weathering did not come out the way I had hoped because the paint dried REALLY FAST and didn't give me much chance to wipe some excess away in time. The next piece I want to work on would be the cod piece and by the looks of the AvP3 screens, it'll be almost identical to Wolf's cod piece from AVP:R. After I get that done I will try to find some really light brownish fabric to make the whole waist set up to get everything attached. If anyone knows where I could get some small skulls like the ones the hunter in the avp3 screens [for the sake of it ill just name him ZaZin] has, please let me know! I'm slowly getting my pieces to build the suit so this probably will take some time and I will update whenever I get another piece completed. Any tips from you experienced hunters would be appreciated!
