Good question. I was limited by the eMachineshop software I am using to create the model. And just the hollow base was 56 dollars plus taxes in my country. I tried to create the spike, but could not bend it. and the gravel stuff was so hard to draw. Not saying is impossible, just for me was so hard and this way was cheap and easy, even if takes a lot of time.

tonight will do some sanding to re-fit the cone at the top and will start filling the gravel gaps

Very cool, the gravel looks great! I really like that you made the tip bent rather than straight, I'm sure the end result will make it look as though it's seen a few battles.
