Here are some photos of a build I did a few years ago. The model is 57" long.

57" Wow! Welcome aboard! What material did you use for the hull plating and rivets? And how long did your build take? Someday I want to take on a project like this.

The hull plating is what I call railroad board or coated poster board. The rivets are applied one drop at a time using Pine Car glue. I chose that because it holds it's shape really well after it dries. As for the rest of the construction, the main hull "skeleton" is 3/16" foam core board. The wheelhouse and keel structures are made of illustration board with some railroad board plating. The rakers are carved from balsa wood. And then there are a variety of other pieces/parts like bagged wood shapes and glass shapes purchased from a hobby store, clear plastic drink cup lids and blister packaging.

Just amazing! The final result is particularly astounding given the materials list. This is truly "something from nothing," and an inspiration to all of us.

Did you follow the Disney blueprints to the letter? I might have to ask for pointers every now and then when I finally start building one.

Pretty much. I used the blueprints as a pattern. There may be rivet-counters who might have issues with it, but overall I am pleased with the results.
