I contacted someone last year who I felt was a maker who could pull this off in a reasonably cost-effective run. Sadly, it was not to be

Go ahead and spend the money I wear mine everyday and I am glad I got it when I did as it is over double the price I bought it for.
It's weird I get a lot of, are you with a church?, or are you a priest? and others instantly recognize it and ask where I got it :lol

Here's a fantastic Connor handle, cast from a cleaned up screen-used hero one from H2, together with its tsuba, made by Daryl (irishamericanlad).
Blade was made by ... well, I have no idea :lol, but I bought a display katana from Toledo while I was there, almost 20 years ago, and this is it minus the handle :lol
I put them all together, and voila
(It's a cool screencap. Don't go nitpicky on me :lol)

It's a great display piece

Alan, I think I could stand in your prop room for hours not moving. Just slowing rotate a little about once an hour. Probably stand in front of your big glass case without moving for three hours.

Today I finished what I started yesterday, so, straight from my Frankenstein Sword Assembly Line ......

..... here's another :eek handle & tsuba from Daryl.
This time it's from the first Highlander movie, (a Genai from point gallery), a cleaned up version of the H1.
Just as if Ramirez got it today :cool
Yes, I know the Saya is supposed to be wine coloured ... but I've only got a black one :lol
No, I cannot show the full blade, it's a secret :sleep
(nah, it's because its a Wakazashi not a Katana :lol . I don't have a Katana tree OK :lol ? ).
Still, it's all good for just a display. I like the black & white contrast, especially when I put them together
