One space down, half a dozen to go :lol

Next, from Ghostbusters, here's Ecto 1, 1:18, by Mattel / Hot Wheels Elite.

I thought you'd appreciate a detailed review :thumbsup

Wow! That's a pretty big update there Alan! (You never fail to disappoint, my friend. :lol) Thanks for posting the detailed photos of the 1:18 scale Ecto-1 especially. Man, they really went all out for that thing, didn't they?! Holy mackerel! I can't wait to see the Titanic model put together also. Are you planning on displaying it along with your other Titanic props, or separately by itself? Either way, it'll be great to see what it looks like finished. Keep up the awesome work Alan. Your collection continues to inspire and amaze. :)

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - Star Trek, Ghostbusters, Titanic.

Always a pleasure to peruse your displays, Alan! They all deserve "top shelf" status!
Thanks, Jeff

Thank you Adam :). Yep, they sure did go all out ! I've been on the fence for years for an ERTL Ecto, but was invariably always put off by the high prices they always go for due to scarcity .... till this came out. Glad I waited :lol

We'll see when I get the chance to do the Titanic. But once I start, it won't take long to complete. It's getting started that takes the longest time. Let me put it this way, last model kit I made lay sitting there for 2 years first :lol

The Mrs. will know when I start. Freshly cooked food around the house starts getting scarce, dogs grow thinner, bedtime is unpredictable, beard grows, etc :lol

As for the location, it'll be right were it is now ... minus the box and extra bits of plastic currently around the parts :lol

To be honest, I'm dying to start it :love

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Star Trek Deep Space Nine Transformer

For those thinking they're going to see a space station turn into a VW Beetle ...... forget it :lol

First up though, a Bajoran Comm Badge from ST-DS9.

Here's what they looked like on screen

bajbdgSG-953x380.jpg

Here's some screen-used ones

And here's my replica :)

bajbdg2-551x696.jpg

As for the transformer (job), it's a Bajoran Phaser, also from ST-DS9.

Here's some screencaps

bajphSG1-966x381.jpg

bajphSG2-875x675.jpg

Here's a screen-used one from YourProps

bajphSU-781x697.jpg

And here's one from HMS Mike's website

bajphHMS-778x640.jpg

There seem to be some variations in the props, but I particularly liked the idea of the gold embossing and the silver colour in places.

So I got me this toy (image found on the net)

playmates1-769x674.jpg

And a little bit of this plus some paint

bajphbef-764x513.jpg

Ta-dah ! Transformer Bajoran Phaser :lol

I rather like the way it turned out :)

And another space filled :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Here's a (very :lol) shiny but super-:cool model of a Martian War Machine from the original War of the Worlds.

And I actually started the Titanic kit I got. The hardest thing about this is the painting. It's driving me :wacko

Next time I take photos of this will be when it's ready, and that depends on how long it takes to drive me bananas :lol

But then again, that's the fun :lol

The Ecto 1 looks beautiful!

I'd love to pick up a Titanic kit some time. It looks like a fun build.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

You should do the sunken version !!
:lol
Less work, less painting !

A glue gun and just three pots of humbrol copper !

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

I think I'm going to get that kit. It looks like tons of fun and I love the detail on it.

Would styrene glue work on it? Also, what paints did you use?

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

I suppose styrene glue would work. But the kit comes with Revell glue (excellent), and paints. Good ones too :thumbsup They could be better, but I can't be bothered to drive down to the hobby shop to get other ones. They just require an extra 1 or 2 layers on the bigger pieces.

I am using my own brushes though, as the one that (also) came with the kit is good to paint an outdoor lampost in rust with :lol

Also using my own paints for certain details, like brass/bronze for the propellers, dark brown for some parts of the smaller pieces etc.

One thing I forgot to mention is that this kit comes with a few cool extras, like copies of postcards, a first class menu, and a 28 page White Star Advertising Brochure !

For the price, I think it is unbeatable.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Yeah, I'm eyeing it on Amazon. I'd love to see those extras as they are replicas.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

I'll take a few pics if you want. I'll have them up shortly. BRB.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Quick & dirty, but here ya go :thumbsup

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Those are some excellent extras! Totally worth the price on Amazon. I am sold.

Once again, your collection is amazing.

Thanks Ben :)

Before you buy, shop around. The prices vary greatly.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

37 w/ free two-day shipping on Amazon. Sounds reasonable. How much did you pay?

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Yep. Was just looking at Amazon. That price is fantastic ! I paid 42 Euro for mine ($54), but I got it from Europe, so I saved about $30 in fees, as this end, anything above a total of $50 (including shipping !) coming from outside the EU gets whacked !

I saw on the Amazon description, "Assembly time 12 hours"

.... :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Yeah .... a day .... for a week or two. Then maybe :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - War of the Worlds + Titanic Progress

Ha!

Well, I don't have any old, maritime sayings so I''ll just say happy building.

Thanks for the advice.
