My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival : The Godfather

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

WOW!!! That is a lot a lot of collection again....I'm jealous

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

Awesome set up, man! Giving me some ideas for my props display when I move (though it'll be on a much, much smaller scale!)

Which golden gun do you like better, the SD or the FE? That's the next replica I'm saving up to get.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

I'm curious...
Do you have an estimate value of everything you have?

amazing

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

Happy belated birthday Alan.

Love that Vulcan harp more every time I see it. Great, great collection.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

Thank you very much ladies & gents :)

...Which golden gun do you like better, the SD or the FE? ...

They both have their 'attractions', and I could never really say which one I prefer. I love them both :love

I'm curious...

Nope. Never bothered to calculate it either. I see nice shiny things in the room, not money :lol

Happy Belated B-day Alan!

Happy belated birthday Alan.

Thank you .... but my birthday was 11 months ago :lol

It's my thread's birthday that was a few days ago :lol

.....
I also just realised that it was this thread's birthday a few days ago. So here's to that :lol

However, it's coming up again in a months time, so I'll take your birthday wishes in advance :) :) :) :) :) Thanks !

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Updated Prop Room

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals (BTTF/GB/CCF/Titanic) + Musical Chairs

Thank you Aussie66 & peter74 :)

--------------------------------------

Its Xmas eve and we're going to my sis's place this evening.

Its also Saturday, pressies are wrapped ..... and I'm bored senseless :lol ........ so get bored with me :lol

Of course, no sooner do I update the 'overall view' pics of the prop room, and here I am, 48 hrs later, making changes :behave

This is what I've done this morning :

For this wall, I modified the circled frames (Vigo & NT)

fr1-600x537.jpg

Since I have the Vigo as a painting, that frame was obsolete. So in line with the frame next to it, I changed it for the last of the GB Mag Covers I still had on file and not on display

fr2-828x558.jpg

As for the other ones, I took the 3 National Treasure frames, and put the pics into a larger frame.

A space was left over, so I also brought the Omni cover from the wall across the room.

fr3-825x554.jpg

Now I had an extra small 3 frames :lol

Couldn't just leave them running about, so I also shifted things around here :

fr4-815x522.jpg

(That's where the Omni Mag cover came from)

So, first, I replaced the Wonka Golden Ticket for a decent one, as the one I had was suffering from a severe case of jaundice :lol

I added other paper props I also still had on file and not on display, using the extra frames I ended up with :

Omni cover replaced with Wonka Chocolate Bar Wrappers, & 'Big' & 'COW' frames replaced with "Re-elect Goldie Wilson" and "Battle of the Bands" from BTTF :

fr5-808x511.jpg

On the other side of this wall, I made me a large collage from Titanic, using the Newspaper, Ticket, Telegram, First Class Menu, and Rose's Life photos, all of which I also had on file and not on display.

And finally, put The Jadzia & Worf Wedding photo in a smaller frame, and the other frames that were shifted from the right of the A/C, on this side like so:

I'm not bored any more :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - RPF, Aliens, Conan.

Thanks Metal Man :thumbsup

Actually, I was still bored yesterday afternoon, so I got down to taking some pics and tinkering. I just didn't have the time to upload them because it was then time to go out. Way to make a day go by :)

First up are Matt Munson's RPF Lapel Pin and Challenge Coin. Such excellent quality :thumbsup

Aliens figure.

The details on this are impressive.

Funny story to go with this. I was expecting the postman to come around with a 2-foot package, as I had ordered the 18 inch figure.

When it came, I was furious, because it was this size.

So I rushed off ready to write to the seller & lambast him for this error etc .... when I looked closely at what I bought .... and it clearly said 18 cms, not inches :lol

Bang went my "What a friggin' good deal this is !!" right out the window :lol

He grew on me now :)

Finally, Lonnie's (TK570) Temple Snake medallion from "Conan the Barbarian" arrived a couple of days ago, and yesterday I had the time to make the clasps and cord for it.

I think that should be it for this year.

I wish you all Happy Holidays, and hope you have enjoyed this thread :)

Awesome. Do you mind saying (in some detail) how you braided the cord, especially the area around the brass fittings?

Many thanks guys :)

No worries :thumbsup (I wish I had taken some pics :( )

OK, here's a step by step. Please don't hesitate to ask for any clarification.

- Took the spring thingy from a clothes peg and cut off the 2 edges. This gives you 2 'L' shaped pieces of metal. Those are the clasps.

- Braided 3 strands of shoelaces. Started by tying a knot at the start, and braided.

- Once the braiding was done, I put some superglue at both ends, covering around 2cms length at each side.

- Once hardened, it becomes like stone, and although the braiding is 'preserved', it is a solid block.

- Cut the braiding at the outer ends of the superglue. So you end up with a braided cord having 2cms of stiff edges at each end and the braiding won't come undone. Ever :lol

- Perforated these hard edges with a hobby drill to make holes.

- Passed the clasps through the holes. Bent the 'L', to now make it into the 'U'.

- Burned the tips of the braid around the clasps to make them 'roundish'.

- Drilled 4 small holes into the medallion.

- Put a small drop of superglue in each hole.

- Put the clasp tips in.

- Painted the clasps with brass paint.

Voila :) :thumbsup

EDIT - Let me take a pic. BRB.

EDIT 2 - Back. Like so.

This is the tip of the 3 laces I braided, with the knot, and then cut at the edge of where the superglue started.

Also, the peg showing the 'L' I used.

And then .....

Great look for your medallion Alan and thanks so much for posting the info on how you did your's. I received mine from Lonnie a couple of days back after wanting once for around 20 years. Need to get mine done after the holidays.

Thanks for sharing.=)
