My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): "Home-Theater finally finished!"

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: ''Rosebud'' Sled from CITIZEN KANE

What is the overall length and width of the sled? I have limited wall space. If I took one of the shelves off a book case, I wonder if it would display nicely in that space :confused

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: ''Rosebud'' Sled from CITIZEN KANE

Thanks Mr Webber.

What is the overall length and width of the sled?

It's approximately 35 inches long by 15 inches wide, (35'' x 15''), give or take a quarter inch or so. I used the Profiles in History auction description as a basis for the measurements. (At least I assume that it was Profiles in History.) I found the info on SgtFang's original Rosebud thread. Here's the auction description.

Citizen Kane (Rosebud 0).jpg

It doesn't take up as much room on the wall as might think. I hung mine up just using a couple of plastic-covered metal brackets so that I can take it off the wall whenever I want.

Classy display Adam, extremely classy :cool

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

I've been looking for this one for a lo-o-o-ng time now. Tony Manero's 3-piece white disco suit from SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER! (More for it's iconic place in cinema-history than for it's ''hipness'' obviously.) :p My next steps are to find a more screen-accurate looking black pin-striped shirt, and the correct necklaces/pendants. (I have the matching pants as well even though they're not shown in the photos. Looks like a full-size mannequin is somewhere in my future for display purposes.) ;) The suit itself has a couple of slight differences from the screen-used one, (most noticeably the use of 4 buttons on the vest instead of 5), but from all of the research that I've done I'd say that it's about as accurate of a replica as any that I've ever come across, and I've been looking for a couple of years now. (This is a real 70's era vintage suit by the way, not a ''Halloween costume'' version of Travolta's suit. They are not as easy to find as you might think they'd be...believe me.) Well, I guess that's it for the now.

Tony Manero's 3-Piece White Disco Suit other replicas movie props from Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

:lol:lol:lol

Not funny at all, but unique, wonderful, imaginative, ..... and you have the necklaces too !!

It made me smile so much I burst out laughing at you ingenuity :cool

I also see you had to create a movie title over at yourprops.

That always says something :cool:cool

BTW, how's the home theatre coming along ?

Thanks Alan. :) I aim to please! It's funny that you mention that about ''having to create a movie title'' over at yourprops.com. I think that's like the seventh time that I've had to do that! (Along with such other ''classics'' as Smokey and the Bandit, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Witness, Annie Hall, Singin' In The Rain and Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times). I guess either I'm getting older, or maybe I'm just getting weirder, huh? :D
As far as the home theatre goes, no news to report yet but there's always tomorrow. (Hmmm. That gives me an idea. Maybe a prop from Annie? Nah! Even I have my limits.) ;)

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

Love the idea Adam, of course at the time i was all over Star Wars but as i got older, this movie became far more relevent and the soundtrack still cuts it. Yes, we are getting old.
I think you should make a section of the disco flooring with practicle lighting as a base and include a mirror ball of course. Wish we had a little, JT in SNF dancing emoticon to finish this off with.

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

You should build a small platform for the mannequin to set on, that has light up squares that flash and match the movie dance floor :lol

Brilliant idea ! Seriously !

But it also has to be a mannequin with flexible arms and legs, for this pose :lol

Re: Adam C.'s Collection - NEW STUFF!: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've gotta say, I seriously like all of those ideas! (I think perhaps that just goes to show the true extent of my insanity at this point.) :lol In fact, Alan's recommendation of a mannequin with posable arms and legs reminded me of seeing streetjudge79's recently posted thread. http://www.therpf.com/f9/very-cool-poseable-mannequins-your-displays-143352/
Okay. So let's mentally go over my ''to do'' checklist here. Buy a huge spinning mirrored ''disco-ball''. Check. Purchase some lighted multi-colored floor-tiles. Check. Acquire life-size posable articulated mannequin. Check. Take out a small loan for a hu-u-u-ge diamond ring and two-dozen roses for my soon to be overwhelmed wife. Check. Okay folks, I think we have a plan here. Thank-you gentlemen. :):thumbsup

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (1975)

I just picked up a vintage white nurse's cap that is nearly identical to the one that was worn by Louise Fletcher during her Academy Award winning performance as ''Nurse Ratched'' in the 1975 motion picture, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. (Her portrayal of the character was also ranked as the fifth greatest movie villain of the past 100 years on AFI's list of ''100 Heroes and Villains''.)

AFI's 100 YEARS...100 HEROES & VILLAINS

I originally got the idea for getting the cap after I saw this article in Entertainment Weekly magazine a few years ago.

Your AT-AT, can you give me any info on it and where you picked it up?

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (1975)

Thanks. There's not really a whole bunch of stuff from that particular film that I think would be worth collecting, (for me anyways), but I kind of thought that her nurse's cap pretty much ''encapsulated'' her character in my mind.

Your AT-AT, can you give me any info on it and where you picked it up?

Mark, the At-At is from a Star Wars role-playing game. They're kind of cool for someone like me who is unskilled as a model-builder/painter because they come pre-assembled & painted, and are ready to display right out of the box at a pretty reasonable price.
