Finally happening !

Way to go buddy. Love the colour scheme :cool

Very much looking forward to it :D

Try to resist the little voice that will constantly tell you "That & that space must be filled"

Alan, can anyone resist that little voice ? I can't !! LOL !!
Looks great,Adam !!

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): HOME THEATER / PROP ROOM PICS

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm sorry that I haven't been on in a while, but we've been pretty busy lately. (And Alan, I'm in agreement with Gladney on this one. That ''little voice'' can be pretty hard to resist.) ;) By the way, that's a great website BULLITTS! Thanks for posting the link. I'm sure that I'll be getting several items from them in the future. Here are some pictures that I took today of the room as it stands right now. (We just got through assembling the DVD / Blu-Ray cabinet yesterday and it's still in the ''unorganized'' stage, but at least we got most of the movies moved into it for now.) Just as a reminder, the wall with the JAWS and RAIDERS of the LOST ARK posters on it is the one where the movie-screen is going to be eventually, (after the music equipment is moved out.) So without further ado...

Thanks Brad. I've learned a lot from you guys in my short time here, and have appreciated all of the help and assistance that I've received along the way.

Please forgive me if I say nothing except

Thank-you Alan. (You always know just what to say my friend.) ;)

BONUS PICS!

Since I moved all of my movie-props into the new theater-room, I had some free space in our bedroom to set-up some of my ''long packed away'' toy collection on one of the walls. (I've never been much of a ''completist'' when it comes to collecting toys. Mostly it's just a hodge-podge of different items that have sentimental value from when I was a kid.)

Nice one my friend

Didn't know you also "collected" toys (another hobby of mine; specially Timpo Toys and of course Action Man). Guess we'll always be boys!!
I like your "new space" - lots of great prop replicas (btw a bit inspired on your great ruby slippers I decided to make ones myself...)
Congrats

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): HOME THEATER / PROP ROOM PICS

I'm guilty as well.I also collect toys ! Having an understanding wife is wonderful as well.I think she feels I am quite harmless !! LOL !!!

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen.

I know what you mean. I'm 42 years old, but when I'm holding a STAR WARS action figure I can remember being 10 like it was yesterday. Weird, huh? Oh, and good luck on the Ruby Slippers! Make sure to let me know when you get them done. (I admire you for taking on a project like that. That's definitely far beyond my skill level!) :)

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the ''understanding wife'' thing. (I really lucked-out in that department!) Not only does she (more than!) put up with all of my various hobbies and interests, but she actively participates whenever possible. She collects Cabbage Patch Kids, (they're on a separate shelf next to the G.I. JOE dolls, so as to avoid any ''fraternizing'') :D, and she took up playing the Bass Guitar several years ago after I got back into playing the keyboards again. Now, as far as being ''harmless'' goes...;)

Adam,
I should have mentioned that Jolene is also a collector and an avid movie fan,so she really does understand me,if anybody does ! LOL !!

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): HOME THEATER / PROP ROOM PICS

It's great that you had the strength to go through the remodel. I did it once, don't know if I have the energy to ever do it again.
Congrats on the room, it really came out great!

I gotta take some tips from you in terms of shelving and grouping- I'm still trying to find my floor....

Hey - you're in NY too? Where at!? PM me. (and it's okay if you don't too, I know us New Yorkers are pretty antisocial/wary of strangers haha)

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): HOME THEATER / PROP ROOM PICS

At this moment I am Kermit green with envy seeing your immaculate Lone Ranger & Silver :cool.

Always wanted to get me a LR figure to replace the one I had about 10 years ago when I was 12.

Thanks Gary. I was trying to go for sort of a ''museum-display'' kinda vibe, but I wasn't actually sure if it would work out that well or not. (Even though they tend to crowd the display cabinet a little bit more than I care for, I really do like the reference cards more than I thought I would.) At least now I don't have to constantly remind my Dad ''what that crazy-lookin' thing is'' every time he takes a peek in the cabinet! :lol (And yes,...he pretty much says that about all of my stuff.) :D

Adam,
I should have mentioned that Jolene is also a collector and an avid movie fan,so she really does understand me,if anybody does ! LOL !!
Then you truly are a lucky man indeed, Sir. (y)cool

I don't know about that whole ''tips'' thing. I've seen pictures of your collection and it looks like your doin' ju-u-u-u-st fine to me. ;) (But thanks for the compliments though.) And I'm in a small town in Upstate New York about 10 miles from the Canadian Border. Are you in New York City? Because I'd love to have one more reason to take a trip there sometime!

Thanks Alan. I've always had a soft-spot for The Lone Ranger in any form, (yes...even the Klinton Spilsbury movie), :rolleyes but I really used to love watching re-runs of the old Black & White T.V. series starring Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels when I was little. One of the first Christmas memories that I have was from when I was about 3 years old, and my parents gave me a boxed Lone Ranger and Silver action figure set. Lone Ranger Action Figure Archive I Marx I Gabriel I Plaidstallions.com (It doesn't take much to make little kids happy, huh?) :) I was able to acquire the new ones that I currently have off of e-Bay, probably about 10 years or so ago, mint in the box and still unassembled. In fact, the Lone Ranger figure was still sealed in plastic! (I couldn't resist opening them both up, even though I knew it would lower the value of them. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?) Here's a couple of pictures of me with my ''first'' Lone Ranger & Silver all those Christmases ago, and a couple more pictures of my new ones. Hi-yo Silver! Away! :D

It's okay Gary. Good lookin' dudes like Alan can get away with not being that brainy, right Alan? ;) (At least...that's what I tell myself most days.) :p

Re: My Prop Collection - New Addition(s): "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991)

Hello there boys and girls! I haven't updated this thread in a while because, well, frankly...I haven't had anything prop-related to update. But I just received an item the other day that has been on my want-list for a lo-o-o-o-ng time. A Hannibal Lecter restraint mask like the one used in the original The Silence of the Lambs film back in 1991. I've been trying to acquire one of these things for years, but haven't had too much luck as far as screen-accuracy goes until I came across this one. It's made out of fiberglass, (like the original mask designed by Ed Cubberly), and even has metal mouth-bars and a leather head-strap. Definitely one of the closest versions that I've ever come across. Happy Halloween Dudes & Dudettes!

Nice addition mate! No prop replica collection is complete without it

True 'dat, my friend! I'm not really into that many "modern horror" props, but this one's always been a no brainer for me.

By the way, here's a comparison photo to show you some of the things that I was trying to describe to you earlier today.
(Plus some pretty astute observations that are admittedly plagiarized from Howlrunner .) ;)

Mask Comparison.jpg

The Silence of the Lambs (1991):

Raw tinted fiberglass color. (creamy yellow/brown/white)
Three black straps with black plastic clip connectors. (1 neck strap, 1 back of head strap, 1 top of head strap.)
Slit for the nose; nostril holes bored or somehow "marked" into the mask from behind, (but do not go all the way through.)
Thin fibreglass construction.
Mouth bar anchor points visible through mask's transparency.
Pitted surface texture in places.
Thirteen holes drilled around the chin.
Nostril and mouth section is rounded.

Hannibal (2001):

Painted dark brown/green in color.
Two brown leather straps with silver roller buckles. (Long strap sections connected to left side
of mask, short strap sections connected to right side of mask.) (1 neck strap, 1 back of head strap.)
Slit for the nose AND nostril holes cut out.
Thicker construction. (Possibly fiberglass.)
Mouth bar anchor points hidden.
Cross-hatched surface texture in places.
Only eleven holes drilled around the chin.
Nostril and mouth section is flattened and more angular.
