My Lifesize, 1:1 figure collection

Hey gang - I wanted to show my ever growing 1:1 figure collection. My goal is to have one figure from each of my favorite franchises. I am nearly there and can't wait to add a Star Wars and one of Howard's Rocky's to the mix.

I know these aren't perfect likenesses (and some are a bit cartoony), but I am super happy with them. I aimed toward "recognizable" and worked with a modest budget.

Since I am temporarily in a tighter space, these close-ups will have to do. I really hope you like them. I have noticed that cameras just don't do lifesizes very much justice, but these were the best of my pics. I have posted some of these before, but liked the idea of having one thread:

Alien Egg and Face Huggers

I have a list of items I would like to work on based on critique from members here, figured I would mention some so people know I am aware of the issues:

1. I added some glossy black to my paint in working on Connery's hair and I regret it. Its way too plasticy and shiny. In the real world however, I keep the lights on in such a way that it looks way better.

2. Doc's eyes were sculpted by me and I am a novice in that department. The picture doesn't show it well, but I added some fake eyelashes that look nice in person. I still have to add some veins to the eyes so they aren't so cartoony white.

3. Indy's sculpt is not 100% Harrison, but its a nice Silicone likeness and I am ok with how it looks.

4. Peter Venkman has been bashed a few times on various boards, but I like him! Yeah, he's a bit creepy, but he looks ok in person.

5. Picards eyes are painted and it shows. Someday, it would be nice to add some glass eyes.

6. Nicholson's head is a little disproportionally small.

7. Heath's teeth appear way more yellow than in person (but they are very yellow in the jail seen, check it out). His wig is a little wonky, but again, I am ok with it. Members here helped me make his body a bit more proportionate to his head, so I am very happy for that.

Awesome life-size collection man! :thumbsup I'm always envious of you guys who have full-sized recreations of movie characters. I don't have room at the moment, but when we get our home theater built someday I'd love to have an Indiana Jones and Darth Vader set up. (By the way, I particularly like your Indy.) Which hat and whip are those? They really look great. Any better pictures of Indy's bullwhip and gunbelt/ holster?

Thanks for the kind words AC! Your collection is one of my favorite here, so that means a lot coming from you.

I will def. take more pics of my holster and whip. That setup was purchased from Todd's Costumes.

Indy's hat was made by John Penman, and is his version of the Streets of Cairo hat. In better lighting, you can see how badly the snot has been beaten out of it. It also carries all the sweat stains and bends the hat has in that seen!

I'm a big time sucker for the life sized stuff and I think you have a great collection. I especially like that Alien egg with the Facehuggers.

If you don't mind here are some quick comments to help these look that much more incredible. I'd frizz Doc Brown's hair some. Hair gel and crunching it up with your hand should do the trick.

You can see Bond's white shirt thru the lower portion of his vest. I'd either raise the pants to cover it or button the suit jacket.

I think the iris on Bond, Venckman and Picard are a tad too wide. Make them smaller and your golden!

Great work and thanks for sharing - please post more pics whenever you have a chance! :)

Simmon, I am aware of your passion for lifesizes and I appreciate your comments immensely! Your Heath Joker was THE inspiration for my own, and while mine will never look as good, I thank you for sharing pics of yours!

I think everything you posted was right on!

yeah the venkman is scarey a bit. I thought the indiana jones was the guy from the beginning of the movie that takes the artifact away from young indy..all the others are great. need that life -sized slimer to go with

Nice collection! I must admit at first i was wondering why you had David Tennant in a Venkman suit... :lol

Very nice collection!

Funny, when I look at your Indy, he looks more like the "Indy" from the Holy Grail...the one that Young Indy initially steals the CoC from. I forget his name, but it's almost a dead on likeness!

Ah, "Fedora" is his name in the credits. He was initially Abner Ravenwood but Spielberg decided against it!!!!

Thanks for the comments!

Very cool Doc Brown!
Anyone know who made this one from the Hollywood Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg, TN in '07
(probably a 'traveling' exhibit, displays change periodically, not sure it's still there).

Love your Captain Picard. He's such a handsome man, looks a lot like how I remember my dad.

Great collection, but I just don't know if I could live in the same house as lifesize heroes and/or villians!?!

Shylaah

Ha, def. went for a balance.

But speaking of villains, funniest thing is that these things still startle me EVERY time I walk in the room. It never fails. Even AFTER I enter, I will still get a jump when I catch one in my periphery!

Nice collection! I don't think I have seen a Bond or a Venkman done before!
There used to be a life-size Locutus of Borg that I saw side-by-sde with Patrik Stewart and it was almost spooky ow good it was. It was one from a lifecast or a laser scan of his head and was really great.
I remember they were pretty expensive though and not something I could even consider buying. I only mention it because it was such a great likeness. The one you have is also excellent! I agree that if you have a chance to add glass eyes, it will be amazing!
Have you considered a layer of actual hair put on to the Connery head?
That's a very nice sculpt, really a great likeness. The other thing I would mention is perhaps asking someone who is a make-up artist to come by and touch these up a bit. Adding make-up like you would to a real actor can also make something seem very "life-like" as make-up is designed to look more natural than paint.
Likewise, you discovered with the eyelashes for Doc Brown - fake eyelashes and eyebrows would also help make any sculpt look more life-like.
I have a lifesize Yoda from Illusive concepts that is falling apart and a Battledroid and an R2 or two. Working on B9, Robby, Threepio, et al.
The robots are difficult enough to negotiate a place in the house, I don't know if my wife would ever go for a lifesize "human" figure!

I really like the Sean Connery. Who was the sculptor? What jumped out at me was the suit. Nicely done... something Bond would wear if he survived an explosion and his clothing was in shreds, and he happened to be in your neighborhood! :)

Agreed I like the connery also. One of my favourite bonds of all time.

Thanks Vaderman! I really appreciate your comments. I did have that thought and would love to try it someday. I could either figure out a way to attach stands over his hair, or perhaps find some sort of wig/toupee. I will absolutely look into it.

Thanks! I picked up Connery from GBOOTHROYD and it was sculpted by Howard (Chewie). The suit cost me $14 on ebay :lol

Love the Picard, he was the best captain.

Thanks for the comments guys!
